Circle Card Thinlits with Magnificent Maple Leaf

I pulled out the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and Magnificent Maple stamp from Stampin’ Up! to create my card to share with you today.  My card design was inspired by the Try Stampin’ on Tuesday #136 Sketch.  Hope that you’ll head over there and join us for the sketch challenge this week!!

The colors for my card were inspired by the Fab Friday 26 Color Challenge.

Magnificent Maple

Sandi MacIver put together a fantastic video tutorial showing how to use the Thinlits Dies to create a 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card with a flip panel.  She gives you step-by-step instructions and measurements so make sure that you check out her video if you’re interested in making this extended flip card.  You can see her video by clicking here.  I used the instructions from her video to create a little different version of the card.

Magnificent Maple 1

I started by adhering a 1-3/4″ x 4″ panel of Birch Paper Ribbon (from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit) with SNAIL to the left side of a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.  Then I adhered a strip of 1″ x 4″ Chocolate Chip card stock and a 7/8″ x 4″ strip of Sweater Weather DSP with SNAIL to the Birch Paper Ribbon about 1/8″ from the right edge.  I ran the layered card stock through my Big Shot with the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and scored the card (just as Sandi shows you in her video).  Since my layering is thicker than Sandi’s was, it did not cut through the layers completely so I used an Exacto Knife to cut through the final layer (it was really simple since I just had to follow the grooves made by the die).

Magnificent Maple 2

Next, I stamped the Magnificent Maple image in VersaMark ink on a Sahara Sand panel, sprinkled it with Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Emboss Powder, heat embossed it, colored it with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker, cut it out with a Circles Collection Framelits Die, then adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Harvest of Thanks stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink on a Soft Sky panel, cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits die and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the maple leaf image again in Chocolate Chip on a 3-3/8″ x 4″ panel of Birch Paper Ribbon and I adhered it to the extended flap on the card with SNAIL.  Then I added four Chocolate Chip Candy Dots to the Birch Ribbon Paper panels.

Magnificent Maple 3

I finished the inside of the card by adhering another Circles Collection Framelits die cut from Sahara Sand card stock and a leaf from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit with SNAIL to the back side of the circle flip.  I also added a panel of Sahara Sand card stock and another leaf on the inside of the card, using SNAIL to attach them.

  1. Beautiful card! I really like how it’s mostly monochromatic with the awesome pop of color on your maple leaf! It really stands out with the thinlet die! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
