I saw a cute little turkey on Split Coast Stampers and I knew that I needed to make some for Thanksgiving this year.  These are really fun and basically use a bunch of punches and a lot of glue!  This would be a great activity to do with your kids too.

This is what you will need for this project:

For the big turkey, I started by punching out eight 1 3/4″ Scallop Circles out of Chocolate Chip to make the turkey body.  I scored them down the middle.

I punched two 2 3/8″ Scallop Circles out of More Mustard and cut them in half.  Then I punched two Large Ovals each out of Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green and Cajun Craze.  I also punched 6 Large Oval Punches out of Chocolate Chip.  I layered the ovals so that just the tip of the Chocolate Chip was showing.  Then I adhered the More Mustard half circles and the layered ovals together.

Next I adhered the oval layers over the Mustard half circles to create the tail.  After that I started adhering the Chocolate Chip Scallop Circles together for the body.  I folded the circles and adhered them back to back.

Then it was time to glue everything together.  I put my turkey tail on my Silicone Craft Sheet (127853) so that I wouldn’t make a mess all over…hot glue guns and I don’t always get along so well.  I added a glob of hot glue to the lower center of the tail and pressed the body of my turkey into it.

I added the turkey neck and head by clipping a rectangle out of Chocolate Chip Card Stock and adhering it between the layers of the scalloped turkey body.

Finally I added his little head by punching out two 3/4″ circles out of Chocolate Chip Card Stock and adhering them to the neck, adding a Googlie eye to either side of the head, snipping a diamond shape out of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock for the beak and punching a 1/2″ circle out of Cajun Craze Card Stock for the wobble (is that what it’s called??).  I made a little slit in the turkey head to put the beek in and I made a slit in the wobble so that I could put it right under the beek.  I adhered them with rolled up glue dots.  Finally I added a name tag by cutting a piece of More Mustard Card Stock to 1″x3″ and a piece of Cajun Craze Card Stock to 1.25″x3.25″ and layering them together.  I used my Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker to add the name.

I made the smaller napkin ring turkey with the same process, only I used the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch for the tail backing and 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punches for the tail layers.  Once I had the turkey assembled, I hot glued it to a 1″ strip of More Mustard Card Stock that I had cut to fit around my napkin.  I used a White Gel Pen for the eyes since this turkey was much smaller.
