I needed a Happy Retirement card for a good friend who’s retiring from the fire department after 36 years of service! My card was inspired by the Mojo Monday 287 Sketch. I used the Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment, but that was the only stamping on the card. I let the DSP do most of the work on this one and I really had to stop myself from making this too girly, I didn’t think he’d appreciate a card with lots of flowers and doilies. 🙂
I started by using the Simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate to create the zig-zag scoring lines on the top and bottom of the Very Vanilla panel. I adhered the panel to the card base with SNAIL. Next, I cut two ovals with the Ovals Collection Framelits dies (one from Marina Mist card stock and one from Parker’s Pattern DSP), adhered them together, then to the card front with SNAIL. I cut a strip of Parker’s Pattern DSP and layered it over a Not Quite Navy card stock strip and adhered them to the card front with SNAIL. Then I cut another Parker’s Pattern DSP strip, used the 3/16″ Corner Punch to round the corners, then I adhered it to a strip of Marina Mist card stock and rounded the corners of that as well.
I used my Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce three holes in the layered panel and I placed a Silver 3/16″ Metallic Brad through each hole, then I adhered the panel to the card front with SNAIL. I adhered a Silver Basics Designer Button to the card front with Glue Dots, then I stamped the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set in Not Quite Navy ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I punched the sentiment out with the Word Window Punch and adhered it to a Not Quite Navy Modern Label Punch with SNAIL, then to the button with Glue Dots.
I finished the card by adhering a 5/8″ x 4″ strip of Parkers Pattern DSP to the Very Vanilla panel inside the card.
