I thought that I’d share a quick tour of my new stamping room with you today. Hope that’s okay, and if you make it to the end of the post, you’ll see some blog candy too!! 🙂 For the first time ever, I’ve got a designated stamping spot so I’ve been able to do a little planning and designing. As we all know, storage is a huge problem for those of us who are the stamp and accessories horders so I thought I’d show you a few inexpensive things that I’ve added to my stamping area to help minimize the clutter.
This is a big picture of my work area. The larger table is just a 6 foot folding table that I picked up at Target for around $30. The smaller table on the right side is from Ikea (my new favorite store!!). The table top is the Linnmon, it was only $5.99 and I added 4 of the Adils legs at $3.50 each so the entire table was only $19.99.
Here is a close-up view of my 12×12 paper storage rack. I made this from one of those wire sporting-goods racks that you can buy at Target for about $25. I saw this idea here on Cat’s Creations. It makes a very sturdy, very inexpensive rack for storing all of my 12×12 papers. Of course, we only had black zip ties at our house. It would have been “prettier” with white ones.
And here is my big ink storage unit. I bought this used from another stamper for about $30. I’ve seen similar units for $100+ on various websites (and that’s before shipping), so those can be pretty pricy unless you find a good deal on a used one. I like that I can store my ink pads and refills all in one place. There is also a spot to store the matching marker, but I like to have all of my markers at my fingertips on my workspace so I don’t really use that part much. I do store my Paper-Piercing Tool, Aqua Painter and Sharpie markers in those spots. It also has a bunch of little pegs that are designed to go in the tiny holes on the right side for hanging scissors and ribbon spools (or anything else that could go on a hook), I don’t need many of those pegs and they stick out quite a bit so I don’t put the pegs in unless I need them.
The next picture is my 8.5 x 11 paper storage. I bought a rolling card at an office supply store for less than $10 and it works great for storing my card stock. I can roll it around (because it’s HEAVY when it’s full) and it’s got a lid to keep the dirt and chunks of flying debris from my stamping messes out.
The next picture is my big storage unit that I bought at Ikea. It’s called the Expedit Shelving Unit and it was $139. I added two drawers ($25 each) and two doors ($20 each) and I loaded it up with all of my stamp sets and lots of other small items. I’ve got my Sizzix dies behind one of the doors and all of my small tools in the drawers. I also had plenty of space to store my unopened packs of card stock as well as some bins full of other assorted supplies.
I store my ribbon in a small bin and a spool rack. I got the bin at Target for a few dollars and I keep all of my loose pieces of ribbon in there. I bought the ribbon rack on Etsy and it was about $40.
My final storage issue was my punches. After seeing this on Pinterest, this is the solution that I came up with and it was very inexpensive. I bought extendable curtain rods for $4 each at Lowe’s and I used a hack saw to cut them down to the size that I needed. I attached them down the side of my storage unit with the brackets and screws that came with the curtain rods. These were super easy to cut down and hang up, I did it all by myself!

I use an old wood cassette holder that I bought at a yard sale for a $1.00 to hold my retired ink pads. Antique glass cups or knick knacks hold my liquid glues and details upside down and are pretty. I love your room, so inviting to get creative.

I really like your crafting space and it is so organized! I don’t have a room, but am keeping my card stock families in clear stand up bins. I found some colorful cloth rectangle shaped boxes to store my embossing folders and framelits. I keep my embossing powders and dazzling details in a clear fishing tackle carrying case which is so handy to grab when needed. One other thing I have done is to store my markers in the SU clear mount cases. I copied the color family from the new catalog and cut to fit the case — really easy! All of my stamps are kept in clear stackable bins. I really like your shelving unit though. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Love your new stamping space! The best worktop I have is my dining room table. Since leaving my stamping supplies set up there all the time isn’t an option, I bought a small storage unit with six cubby holes and coordinating fabric and wicker bins at Target that sits in my dining room and can double as a buffet/sideboard if I need it.
Thanks for the tour of your stamp room. I store my framelits in a magnetic die storage case by ArtBin that I bought in my local craft store for $7.99. I haven’t been to Ikea in a long time, but I feel a road trip coming on.

I love your space, my room is smaller and my flat punches are stored on their side across a shelf. My stamps are on the end of a storage rack. I got the shelves (more like racks that hook on) when Zellers was going out of business and they were selling them for $2.00 each. I also did what you did with you 12 by 12 by adding extra pieces to the mesh storage squares…I used green ties as that is all I had 🙂

Love all the storage ideas, my favorite is the ink storage. I cannot wait until I can start creating a space but for now my daughter’s twin bed will have to do. I am not ready to accept she has been gone four years in college and isn’t coming home (LOL)
LOVED seeing your ideas and craft space! We all need the ideas of others. UNTIL I get my curtain rods up, I store all of SU punches in a shoe box. I can see everything and it holds them beautifully. I bought some matching boxes that are lovely to store all my tools and stuff I do not use all the time and keep them on a shelf that is easily reached.I use rolling carts with drawers to store my wood stamps and the drawers are labeled. I also use a pegboard on a wall to store so many things for easy access. Love the pegboard. I have decided my addiction has 3 parts: Acquiring SU stuff, using SU stuff and STORING SU stuff! LOL! I love the idea of hanging the punches off the side of the storage unit. I am limited on wall space and this would be easy to get to.
I use a CD shelve to store all of my Clear Mount stamps on, works great, recently got it at Red Racks (DAV) for $5.00! I use a rolling cart with drawers for storing my punches, don

Oh my! Your workspace is so organized, Amy, I’m sure it will be pure joy to create in it! I’m an organization freak, but I tend to shortchange myself when it comes to investing in storage solutions. Most of my supplies are organized into plastic shoeboxes that stack nicely on some inexpensive bookshelves that also house my extensive collection of both wood- and clear-mount stamps. My non-SU! stamps are sorted into bankers boxes that are stacked and serve as mini tables and shelves to put even more stuff on. Like you, I’ve put my cardstock in hanging files inside a plastic bin, but unfortunately mine doesn’t have wheels — argh! Pretty hat boxes serve to hold my odds and ends of ribbon and other embellishments… I’m probably giving far more details than you want to hear, LOL, so I’ll wrap up by thanking you for a chance to win either of the blog candys since I’d get lots of use from the items in either one! Keep up the great work on your blog, as I get a lot of inspiration from it!
Amy, I liked your idea for storing punches. I’ve seen that same type of thing mounted on the wall, but I love utilizing the side of a cabinet (otherwise wasted space) instead.

Your room looks very organized and practical. I love your work table with your pads and markers close at hand. I purchased a standing rack at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago for my card stock, but still not enough room as we are continually given more new color choices!!!
I love the 12×12 sport rack , I use a large behind the door shoe rack for all my punches. The pockets are large enough to get 2 punches in each. Thanks for your tips they are great.

I bought craft Pantry’s from Target my husband nailed them together and then attached a cubical along the top. It has cabinet doors that can hide a lot plus a lot of storage inside. I have my punches on rods too.. Thanks for the Blog Candy..

Love all of your craft studio ideas! My favorite thing in my studio is my ribbon hanger. It’s a wire hanger that is used for multiple pairs of pants. The spools of ribbon slide on each horizontal hanger and the whole thing hangs on a hook on the door. Love all that color looking at me when I am working in the studio!!
I enjoyed seeing all of your great craft storage ideas so much, I totally forgot that you were having a blog candy contest at the end 🙂 My favorite storage for all things – stamps, die cut machine, embossing folders, ribbon, tools, etc, – is an old oak entertainment center that used to be in my living room with all of the stereo, TV and VHS stuff. It is huge and takes up an entire wall in my craft room. It has drawers, cupboards, shelves and even pull out sliding doors for hiding the TV. It holds a lot of stuff and is organized so that I can grab anything I need quickly. I also wanted to add that I have the ink storage unit that you showed above and the wooden dowels were originally used to hold the SU stamp rollers.
Love your new crafts room….I am lucky to have a designated whole room as well, and I love it!!
I keep my small scraps of solid cardstock in 4 plastic “13 pocket” check files that I got for $1 each! One pocket for each color, and color groups (pinks, reds, oranges) in one, (blues, purples) in another, etc. Works great for me to quickly find a scrap for a project.

Your craft room is fabulous! I save the plastic containers of soup from Safeway and store my loose ribbon scraps. These are less than 12-18 inches in length. The ribbons on spools are on a dowel, actually 2 of them. The smaller lengths look so pretty on my bookcase shelf. Like a rainbow as I have them going from white to black. I have 32 of them (that’s alot of soup) LOL Thanks for a chance to win your candy.
Wish I had a cabinet to hang rods for punches, such a great idea! I bought a set of mini drawers and stacked several on my desk top. They are great for storing jewels, buttons, brads, etc.

I’m also an IKEA fan – I have my embellishments in a wooden drawer unit from IKEA, called MOPPE. It would fit easily into (or on top of) your new shelving unit. The construction allows you to remove a drawer and place it on the table while you’re working, then just slide it back into the unit when you’re done. This is practical for me, as I work on my dining room table and often need to clean up in a hurry! I also love that the drawers are small enough to allow me to keep things sorted instead of having to dig around in a box. I didn’t see the unit on the IKEA website, but maybe they’re available in the store – I bought mine in Germany!

Just love what you have done with your room. I definitely can use more ideas for storage. I have my 8 1/2 X 11 CS in hanging files in a file cabinet – current SU colors in top drawer and others in the bottom drawer.
Need …more ….space. Just got my order from the new catalog and am wishing I had some of those Ikea shelves for all my new stamps!! I may have to settle for another dvd rack. It looks great and I am pear pizzazz with envy! ; )

Love your new crafting space! Always happy for someone to have such an awesome place to work and create! My favortie storage item is photo boxes from Hobby Lobby to store my clear stamp sets. They fit perfectly, the boxes are decorative and you can separate stamp sets by greetings, holidays, flowers, etc.
I use many things from IKEA, my favorite would by the Bygel Rails to hang my punches and I also use the baskets to store ribbon.
Great space & love all of the Ikea stuff! I too got a table, legs & a little shelf at Ikea which has become my crafting table. Very sturdy & I love it. I have all of my embossing folders in a basked under the shelf -ready at my finger tips when needed. Very easy to thumb through & find what I’m looking for.
Those are such good ideas for storage! I have a similar paper rack that’s also held together with zip ties … yard sale for a couple bucks 🙂 My favorite storage spaces are my plastic drawer towers that you can get from office supply stores. I used to work at Staples and got my towers out of the clearance rack for less than $5 each. I do so much more than cardmaking so my drawers house sewing supplies, paint brushes, ribbon pieces, left over paper scraps …etc.

I bought a small three drawer desktop piece from target to keep all my smaller items in – the pearls and rhinestones, all my sponges and my adhesives. It keeps the clutter off my workspace but its within reach when I need it!
I also use the curtin rod storage for my punches. Absolutely love it. I also used curtain rods for storing my stickers, some chipboard and bling. I use paper clips bent into hooks and hang them from the rod. Works great. Now, If I could only expand my scraproom floor space!
Nice room! I’m still trying to find my favorite storage idea… I just got a drawer cart at Michaels and I’m going to store my punches in there with an index, so I know which punch is in what drawer!
