Harvest of Thanks With a Little Black Dress??

Happy Friday!  That means that it’s time for another card share with Sandi MacIver.  We’ve both created cards using the Harvest of Thanks stamp set from Stampin’ Up! to share with you today.  Once you take a peek at my card, be sure to head over to check out Sandi’s card!

I started out with a completely different plan for this card, I was going to use fall colors and do a fall/thanksgiving themed card.  Well, somehow that plan turned into a little black dress with some Modern Medley DSP.  Don’t ask me how that happened, I can’t even begin to explain it!  But I hope that you like it.  🙂

Harvest of Thanks

My card design was inspired by Retrosketches #86.  As you can see, I took a few artistic liberties with the sketch.

The Modern Melody Designer Series Paper is on of my favorites from the big catalog.  The black and vanilla color scheme is so pretty and I love that I can color the vanilla pieces to create DSP to match any color!  The background is a layer of Very Vanilla card stock adhered to a layer of the Modern Melody DSP, then adhered to a Basic Black card base.

Harvest of Thanks 1

I cut an oval from Basic Black card stock and one from Modern Melody DSP using the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies to add some contrast behind the Dress Up Framelits die cut (which are on sale for 25% off through Oct 28).  I embossed the die cut with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The little belt was made with Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, then adding a Vintage Faceted Designer Button and a Rhinestone Basic Jewel using Glue Dots to adhere them.

Harvest of Thanks 2

The sentiment was created by stamping the turkey image from the Harvest of Thanks stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in StazOn Jet Black ink on a Very Vanilla panel then cutting it out with the matching Deco Labels Collection Framelit; then stamping the thanks image in VersaMark Ink on a Very Vanilla panel, heat embossing the image with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cutting it out with the matching Apothecary Accents Framelit.  I adhered the two die cuts together with SNAIL then to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a few small rhinestones to the edges of the sentiment for the finishing touch.

Harvest of Thanks 3

The inside of the card was completed by adhering a strip of the Modern Melody DSP to a Very Vanilla panel.
