Stampin’ Up! Floral Wings in Silver & Gold

I used the Stampin’ Up! Floral Wings Host Exclusive stamp set to create my card to share today.  And with the background calling for two strips across it, I couldn’t help but add some of the Sale-a-bration Metallics Glitter Tape that will be available starting tomorrow!

My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #223.

I started by adhering strips of the silver and gold Metallics Glitter Tape (Sale-a-bration item available Feb 16) to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base.

Floral Wings 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the outline butterfly image from the Floral Wings stamp set (Host Exclusive item) in VersaMark ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  Then I stamped the flower image from the Floral Wings stamp set over the butterfly image in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I stamped the leaf image over the flowers in Wild Wasabi ink, then cut the butterfly out with the matching Bold Butterfly Framelits die.

Floral Wings 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered a few Glue Dots on the back of the butterfly die cut, then looped some Gold and Silver Metallic Threads and adhered them to the Glue Dots.  I adhered the butterfly die cut to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I pulled a strand of Whisper White Baker’s Twine through a Vintage Faceted Designer Button, tied a bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot to the butterfly.

Floral Wings 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the banner image from the You’re So Lovely photopolymer stamp set in VersaMark ink on a Whisper White card stock panel, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Floral Wings stamp set on the banner in VersaMark ink, sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I cut the banner out with the matching Large Numbers Framelits Die and adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.

Floral Wings 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the leaf image from the Floral Wings stamp set in Wild Wasabi ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock, then stamped the flower images over it in VersaMark Ink.  I sprinkled the flower images with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them before adhering the panel inside the card.

I do have one more little thing to share…my daughter wanted to make a chocolate cake with powdered sugar sprinkles for Valentine’s Day.  We decided to try out the Bloomin’ Hearts Thinlits die to see if it would work as our stencil, so we cut a few from wax paper, placed them on the cake and sprinkled the powdered sugar.  It worked!  She was quite proud of her masterpiece and the cake was yummy too!  🙂

  1. This card is just beautiful. I love the glitter strips. I will have to look those up and get some.

I also love the clever way you did the cake. Bet it was delicious!

  2. Love your card, Amy! Beautiful use of the new glitter tape and your embossing works so well with it too! Thank you so much for sharing another way to use those dies! It certainly made that cake look special! Tell your daughter she has every reason to be proud of her “Masterpiece”! How fun is that~

    • Thanks so much Roberta! She pulled out the recipe and did most of the work to create it…I had to help a little with the final stirring, but otherwise it was all her doing. She thought the powdered sugar hearts were pretty neat! 🙂

  3. Great card…love the butterfly with touches of glitter. And LOVE the cake idea with the heart die. Your daughter seems to be a lot like you with creating. 😊

  4. Oh my, beautiful embossing Amy 🙂 I’m not the greatest at two or more colors embossing, mine usually kinda over melts into the paper. Any suggestions? I love how the glitter tape matches the embossing – awesome!

Your daughter is going to be crafty like you 😉

    • Thanks so much Jill! The only suggestion that I have for the two color embossing is to do one color at a time. I stamped the larger butterfly image and embossed that first, then let it cool completely and stamped and embossed the flowers. When I add the embossing powder, I turn my paper over and really hit the back of it pretty hard to knock off all of those stray flakes before I heat it the second time. So far that technique has worked well. Drop me a note if you have any more questions about it, I’m happy to help you out! 🙂
