Stampin’ Up! Remarkable You & a Watercoloring Video!

I used the Stampin’ Up! Remarkable You stamp set and my Aqua Painter to create my card to share today.  I’ve had several of you ask for a video tutorial showing how I do my watercoloring and I finally got one done.  You can see it below…although I did have a terrible cold when I taped it.  Hopefully I don’t sound too stuffy.  🙂

The design for my card was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #224.

And the colors and flower theme for my card were inspired by The Card Concept #49.  I’m going with this card falls into the clean and layered category.

I started by stamping the calla lily image and the sentiment from the Remarkable You stamp set in VersaMark Ink on a panel of watercolor paper.  I sprinkled the images with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them.

Then I started watercoloring with my Aqua Painter and Pool Party, Watermelon Wonder, Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Mint Macaron inks.  Here is my video showing you some tips for achieving a similar look (if you’re viewing this via email, you may need to click over to my blog to see the video link):

While I was letting my watercolored image dry, I adhered a panel from the Birthday Bouquet DSP to a Thick Whisper White card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I like adhering the large panels that cover the entire card front with liquid glue so that I’ve got a little time to make sure that everything is straight and lined up perfectly before it sets up permanently.

I adhered a strip of the Watermelon Wonder 1″ Stitched Satin Ribbon to the card front with SNAIL.

Remarkable You 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I wrapped a strand of Linen Thread twice around the watercolored panel, tied a bow, then adhered the watercolored panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Remarkable You 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I inked the calla lily image from the Remarkable You stamp set in Mint Macaron ink, stamped it off once, then stamped it on a panel of Whisper White card stock inside the card.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your water coloring tips, Amy! I tend to steer clear of the aqua painter because I noticed that more water seeps from it than I want. Painting the clear water onto the paper before applying the ink really softens the colors and like you stated, it allows movement of the color much easier. I think I just might go ahead and give this tool another try. Great job with the painting!

  9. Awesome video Amy 🙂 I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well, that stinks! I really liked all the tips you gave, especially adding water first, it makes a much softer color with no hard delineation. You have inspired me to try this out, now to get the free time, lol!
