Stampin’ Up! Sunburst Sayings For the Totally Techniques Blog Hop

Website Banner resized

I used the Stampin’ Up! Sunburst Sayings stamp set to create my card for the monthly Totally Techniques blog hop.  This month we’re focusing on the bouncing brayer technique.  This project is pretty bright…so I’m warning you that you might need your shades.  🙂

Here is my card:

Sunburst Sayings - Stamp With Amy K

The design for my card was inspired by Can You Case It #108.

I started by inking up my Brayer with So Saffron ink.  I picked a “center” point for the sun rays that I would be creating and lined up one edge of the brayer with that point.  I bounced the brayer around the entire panel of card stock, rotating it occasionally as the ink colors lightened until I had a sun ray effect.

I repeated that process with Daffodil Delight ink, then adhered the panel to a panel of Daffodil Delight card stock with SNAIL.  I wrapped a strand of Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon around the panel, then added a strand of Pumpkin Pie 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon, adhering both with SNAIL.

Sunburst Sayings 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the sentiment from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set in VersaMark ink on a panel of Daffodil Delight card stock, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I cut the sentiment out with a Circles Collection Framelits Die, adhered it to a Baker’s Box Thinlits die cut from Silver Foil Sheets and then to a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch from Pumpkin Pie card stock with SNAIL.  I adhered the layered sentiment panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a panel from the Shine On Specialty DSP to a Pumpkin Pie card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, then adhered the layered card front over the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a few random Rhinestone Basic Jewels to finish the card front.

Sunburst Sayings 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the dot image from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set in Daffodil Delight and So Saffron inks across a Whisper White panel inside the card.

On a more personal note, yesterday we welcomed a Goldendoodle named “Ginny” to our home…the kids are in love.  🙂

She does have an awfully sweet face and both of her parents are therapy/service dogs, so she’s got a very calm demeanor.  Depending on how things go, we may have her trained as a therapy dog for our daughter once she gets a little older.  For now, she’s getting used to her new surroundings and four new faces…I’m sure that I’ll have her stamping in no time.  😉

  9. What a fun card! Must try this technique although my brayer and I haven’t had much success together in the past 😉 And congrats on adding Ginny to the family. My cousin has one and she is the BEST dog!

  10. Love your sun ray card Amy 🙂 great colour combination, adding the silver finished your card off perfectly. Your new addition to the family is pretty darn cute too, what an adorable face.

  11. I thought I was going to need sunglasses to view your card – it’s so bright and cheerful! Ginny is so cute. I love, love, love dogs and cats and have never lived without one. I hope she will become a great companion for your children. <3

  12. First, thank you for sharing the Bouncing Brayer technique with us, Amy. That will allow me to make a sunburst without having a stamp or die. Yay for me, and others who don’t own those items too! Your newest family member is completely adorable! We have 2 miniature poodles and just love not worrying about fur floating around the house! Such a plus. Since I am a hairdresser, I also learned to cut their fur; so that’s a major savings too. Have fun with Ginny and thanks for sharing her with us~

    • Thanks Roberta, hope that you have fun creating sunbursts with the brayer! 🙂 I definitely wish that we lived closer, I’d bring her over for haircuts often. We are in search of a good groomer right now…her hair is starting to look a little crazy. 🙂
