Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wings for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

happy-inkin-thursday-blog-hop-bannerI used the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wings stamp set to create my card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop today.  We’ve got a sketch challenge this week and this is what I created for it.

Here is the sketch that we’re using this week:

The butterfly on my card was inspired by The Card Concept #77:

I started by adhering panels from the Eastern Palace Specialty DSP (available May 1) to a panel of Dapper Denim card stock with SNAIL.  I adhered the layered panel to a Dapper Denim card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I cut a panel of Very Vanilla card stock with two dies from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies (available May 1) and then used the largest Layering Circles Framelits die to cut around the outside edge…made my own doily!!  🙂  I adhered the die cut to the card front with SNAIL.

I inked the dot image from the Watercolor Wings stamp set in Dapper Denim ink, stamped it on scrap paper twice and then stamped it on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I repeated that process, stamping randomly on the panel.  I adhered the panel to a panel of Dapper Denim card stock with SNAIL and then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I inked the butterfly images from the Watercolor Wings stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist (available May 1), Tranquil Tide (available May 1) and Dapper Denim inks and I stamped them on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I cut the image out with the matching Bold Butterfly Framelits Die and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Watercolor Wings stamp set in Dapper Denim ink on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock, punched the end with the Banner Triple Punch and adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.  I added a single Dapper Denim enamel dot from the 2015-17 In Color Enamel Shapes pack to finish the card front.

I stamped the dot image from the Watercolor Wings stamp set in Dapper Denim across a panel of Very Vanilla card stock inside the card.

  1. OMGee…between you and Mary, so far, I’m going to go broke! When I saw these two colors, I said OK to Lemon Lime Twist but nay to Tranquil Tide…along with the Eastern Palace Suite. Now I’m hooked on all three. The fact that you made your own doily pushed me over the edge!

  2. Oh my goodness, that doily is exquisite! I need to get this set now so that I can make my own, too, since the ones I love are retiring 🙂 Your butterfly is so pretty, too, just love all of it!

  3. Stunning butterfly! And I echo the above sentiments….I wasn’t crazy about the new colors (except LLT) or the Eastern Palace suite. But now, you have me at the doily and the colorful butterfly! Lol.

  4. That doily caught my eye first–aren’t you the creative one?! I love the colors on your butterfly…showing the new colors to perfection! Cute cute card.

  5. Your card is stunning! I really like the beautiful doily peeking out from behind the butterfly. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this butterfly set. Love it!
