Stampin’ Up! So Many Shells Sympathy Card for the Dream Theme International Blog Hop

We’re back with another Dream Theme Blog Hop!  This month we’re focusing on sympathy projects and I created a card with the Stampin’ Up! So Many Shells and Better Together stamp sets to share with you today.

I started by tearing a piece of scrap paper and placing it over on corner of a Very Vanilla card stock panel.  I sponged Bermuda Bay ink over the corner of the panel, then removed the scrap paper and sponged Crumb Cake ink over the other side.

I stamped the images from the So Many Shells photopolymer stamp set in Crumb Cake ink (one on top of the other) on the panel.  Then I added the sentiment from the Better Together stamp set in Soft Suede ink.

I applied a little bit of embossing past over the edge of the Bermuda Bay sponged ink, waited for it to start to set up and then used the Palette Knife to spread the paste out a bit.  That gave the paste a bit of additional texture to make it look a bit more like foam.  I wrapped a strand of Linen Thread around the panel and then adhered it to a Soft Suede card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Better Together stamp set in Soft Suede ink and the So Many Shells stamp set images in Crumb Cake ink on a Very Vanilla card stock panel, then sponged a little Crumb Cake ink around the edges on the inside of the card.

  6. Beautiful all the way around. I was puzzled as to how you did the foam, it looks so real. Great job with that and the sponging. Very realistic. Made me think the beach wouldn’t be too bad a place to be. Then, I thought, “Nah!” 🙂

  7. I love your beach! I tried to sponge one that was very similar and gave up and used pastels instead. It turned out looking a lot like yours, Amy. Do you know of a tutorial…or could you make one… to show us your sponging technique?? I would love to be able to sponge like you do. Thanks for all of your stellar ideas and your blog! Wouldn’t miss it!

    • Thanks Peggy! My biggest tip for sponging is to start way off the paper on your scrap paper and swirl toward your project. That way you don’t get nearly as many dark spots. 🙂

  8. Oooh, good sponging tip! I always get to focused on putting it on the card, I never thought of starting off and work into it. 🙄👍 This is simply a beautiful card Amy. I would rather make sympathy cards before I need them, excellent card to CASE. I don’t have this set…yet!
