Stampin’ Up! Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies Pillow Boxes

I used the Stampin’ Up! Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies and the Tags & Trimmings and Spooky Cat stamp sets to create some fun pillow boxes for Halloween and Christmas!  These products will all be available beginning on September 1 when the Holiday Catalog goes live for ordering!

If you happened to catch my Facebook Live video yesterday, you saw how I created the stocking pillow boxes that I posted on my blog yesterday (you can see that blog post here).  If you missed the video, you can see it on my Facebook page or on my YouTube Channel here:

I started by cutting two of the pillow box pieces from Crumb Cake card stock with the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies (available Sept 1).  I snipped off the tab ends to make them both rounded.

I pre-folded the two die cuts along the score lines and then applied Tear & Tape Adhesive to the two side flaps on one of the die cuts (as shown in my video).  I used the Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the two die cuts together, making sure that one die cut had the notch pointing toward the top and one had it pointing toward the bottom.

For the Christmas pillow box, I added a 2″ wide band of Quilted Christmas DSP (available Sept 1), using Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere it.  Then I wrapped a strand of Linen Thread around the band and tied a bow.  I stamped the sentiment from the Tags & Trimmings stamp set (available Sept 1) in VersaMark Ink on a strip of Real Red card stock, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I punched the panel with the Banner Triple Punch and then adhered it with Tear & Tape Adhesive to the pillow box.

I cut a snowflake with the die from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies from Champagne Foil Paper and adhered it with a Glue Dot to the box.  I added one of the Clear Faceted Gems to the center of the snowflake to finish the gift box.

I had so much fun making the Christmas pillow box that I decided to make one for Halloween too!  I used the same process to assemble the Halloween box except I used Basic Black card stock.  I wrapped a strand of 3/8″ Basic Black Sheer Ribbon around the box and tied a bow.  I cut the pumpkin faces from the Spooky Night DSP (available Sept 1) with the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies (available Sept 1) and I adhered them with Glue Dots to the box.

I stamped the sentiment from the Spooky Cat photopolymer stamp set (available Sept 1) in Basic Black Archival ink on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I punched the sentiment out with the Classic Label Punch and adhered it with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the pillow box to finish it.

Hope that you love these treat boxes as much as I do!  I can’t wait to make a bunch more!

I thought that I’d update my post with some images showing the size of the pillow box and the stocking.  The assembled pillow box is approximately 2-1/2″ x 4″ and it’s about 1/2″ thick at the widest part.  It holds a standard size gift card perfectly!

The stocking piece is approximately 3-3/4″ x 6″ when assembled, but the box on the back has the same size as the pillow box.  So the “treat holder” pieces is the same size as noted above.

  1. Enjoyed the utube you made showing how to make the stockings. Very clear and concise video. The stockings are so cute! Also liked that you showed how to make the pillow boxes with the dies today. Two questions:
What is the approx. size of the holders? What types of treats would fit in them?
Where do you get your magnetic sheets that you keep your dies on?

    • Thanks Julie! I’ve added the approximate measurements for the assembled boxes to my blog post with pictures so that you can get a better idea of what they look like. I got my magnetic sheets from Stamp-n-Storage and they’re great! Much more sturdy than anything else that I’ve found and they have 3 different sizes to fit every die set that I have. 🙂

  2. Hey Amy! Missed your live video but caught it on You Tube this morning. Great job. These are so cute and what a great way to give a gift card. This may change my mind about 1) getting this bundle, which was not on my wish list, and 2) giving gift cards.
I know some of the younger ones in the family like gift cards, but to me it is such an impersonal gift, so I don’t like to do them. However, packaged this way they are more personal and I like that. Thank you for sharing your video and for the cute Halloween box. Great for treats!

  3. These are so cute. Until I watched your video, I didn’t even realize these made little pillow boxes!! How fun is that! I like them a stockings and I like these that you’ve done today, too! 🙂
