Stampin’ Up! Alaskan Cruise…Check Out What We’ve Seen!

Waiving hello from the Explorer of the Seas again!  Since my Monday blog post ended up being switched up a bit from what I’d planned (had no idea that Stampin’ Up! would let us share everything with you all!!), I thought that I’d post a few pictures from our travels in Alaska so far.

Our first adventure when we arrived in Juneau, AK was a float plane ride to see 5 glaciers.  We hopped on board the small plane with Mary Deatherage and her husband, put on our headsets and took off!

The sights were amazing from the minute that we took off.  🙂

The water and mountains are stunning from above!

Our first glacier sighting and we got to see the beautiful blue ice!

Another glacier with more blue ice.

We landed safely back in Juneau, ate WAY too many King Crab Legs and then headed out on an evening whale watching tour…and we hit the jackpot!

We got to see a pod of about 8 orca whales, they had two babies with them!!  Sorry for the lopsided picture, we were on a moving boat with some small waves so a few pictures got a little crazy. 🙂

That was followed up with a few humpback whale sightings!  We saw 3 of the humpback whales too!

They all waved a little hello to us with their tails. 🙂

After our whale watching adventure, we headed back to the boat for a quick night of sleep and then woke up the next morning in Skagway, AK and we headed out on a train ride of the White Pass Trail. The scenery on the ride was spectacular!

We saw Bridal Veil Falls from afar.

As well as the steep ascent that we had in front of us!

The mountains are so beautiful!

Heading into one of the two tunnels on the tracks.

Finally made it to the top!  The black statue marks the border between the United States and Canada.  We briefly stopped at the border and then headed back to Skagway.

After a quick lunch of fish & chips, we hopped in H3’s with Mary and her husband and headed off from Skagway to Canada!

But not before grabbing a quick photo with my husband! 🙂

Our first stop was an up close view of the Bridal Veil Falls.

And then we hopped out at a spectacular lake!

I was snapping pictures like crazy!

We made it to the Yukon Territory and stopped by for another photo op.  🙂

We had a few encounters with bears while we were there!!!  We got to see two momma bears with their cubs and one big black bear.  They weren’t nearly as interested in us as we were in them.  🙂

One more stop by a lake and then back to Alaska!

Hope that you enjoyed seeing a few of the sights that we’ve seen so far!  I’ll share more pictures soon!

  1. Thanks for sharing all the sights of Alaska — so beautiful. A BIG thank you for sharing all the Holiday catalog pictures. It looks like it is going to be a spectacular catalog!

    • We definitely lucked out on the the weather! We’ve seen a lot of things that most people don’t get to see simply because there hasn’t been any rain or clouds. I can officially say that I’ve been to Canada now…although they didn’t stamp my passport at the border, so I can’t really prove it. 😉

  2. So glad you all are enjoying this trip. And, I know you are because EVERY photo is lighted up with big smiles! I love it up there. If it wasn’t so far from all my family, I’d move there!
And, the photos from the catty…..well! I’m going to be very poor, very soon.

    • I’m ready to pack up my house and move here too! My only complaint is the slow internet and slow delivery…might put a kink in my overnight delivery style. 😉

  3. Great photos, Amy! Isn’t the scenery spectacular? I saw the aurora virealis when I was in Alaska back in 1991. Hope you get to see it too!

    • It’s stunning!! We did catch a tiny glimpse of the northern lights one night, but not the amazing show that I’ve seen in pictures. It was still neat to see! 🙂

  4. Thanks so much Amy, those pictures are just so great, loved the bears and whales.
You have both been very generous in sharing yout trip. It is appreciated. Take care
    Roslaie.

  5. This is BEAUTIFUL country! So glad that you share these with us – I want to go!!! I’ll have to put this trip on my trip-tik, for sure!!

  6. Amy, it looks like you all are having a Blast! Great photos, thanks for sharing them with us! Mike’s sister and husband are going in September. Mike and I and our 3 sons were on The Explorer of the Seas in 2005-our very first cruise. Enjoy the rest of your stay~

    • Hope that they love the cruise as much as we are! 🙂 How funny that you were on the same boat!

  7. Those photos are stunning. I’m not really “outdoorsy”, but the scenery is breathtaking.
