Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Gala Sneak Peek for Sunday Stamps

I used the Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Gala stamp set bundle from the upcoming 2019 Occasions Catalog to create my card for the Sunday Stamps Sketch Challenge this week.

Here is the sketch for Sunday Stamps 192.  Be sure to stop by the challenge blog to play along too!

I started by adhering a panel from the Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ DSP (available Jan 3) to a Thick Whisper White card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I adhered another strip of DSP from the Gingham Gala DSP pack to the card front with SNAIL.

I cut a panel of Whisper White card stock with a Stitched Shapes Framelits die and then adhered the die cut with SNAIL to the card front.  I adhered four of the Butterfly Elements (Sale-a-bration item available Jan 3) with rolled up Glue Dots and then stamped the outline butterfly images from the Butterfly Gala photopolymer stamp set (available Jan 3) in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a Whisper White card stock panel.  I inked the solid butterfly images from the Butterfly Gala stamp set with Balmy Blue and Lemon Lime Twist inks and Sponge Daubers and then stamped them over the outline images.

I punched the butterflies out with the Butterfly Duet Punch (available Jan 3) and then stamped the butterfly body images from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink over them (I found that worked better to make sure that the bodies ended up in the right place).  I adhered the butterflies with Glue Dots to the card front.

I stamped the sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Balmy Blue ink on a strip of Whisper White card stock and punched the end with the Banner Triple Punch.  I adhered the banner to the card front with SNAIL and then pulled a strand of Whisper White Baker’s Twine through one of the Tropical Elements.  I tied a bow and then adhered the button to the card front with a Glue Dot.  I was able to get the Baker’s Twine to curl up a bit by running my fingernail down the ends of the twine after tying the bow.

I stamped two more butterflies in the same manner as described above with the Butterfly Gala stamp set and punched them out with the Butterfly Duet Punch.  I adhered the butterflies with SNAIL to a Whisper White card stock panel inside the card.

You can see a list of supplies, including card stock cuts, used to make this card on the very bottom of this blog post.

  1. Oh, Amy, this is So So Pretty! Love the ginghams and the way you colored your butterflies using the daubers! Question: I’ve been wondering when you use adhesive what determines whether you use liquid glue or snail? Since the mono glue came out, I’ve been using it for everything and just love how strong it is. I have had trouble using snail because it sometimes doesn’t come out of the roller evenly and also it has loosened up on cards at times.

    • Thanks so much Roberta! Usually time and what I’m gluing determines what adhesive I will use. Anything where I need a little “wiggle” room (adhering a panel that covers the entire card front, etc) usually gets liquid glue. Anything that’s a smaller layer or ribbon usually gets a tape runner adhesive. 🙂 Use whatever works best for you!

  2. I am so in love with those butterflies, I can’t wait to get my hands on them. This card is just stunning, I love the colours you have in the butterflies and the beautiful layers of designer paper behind, comes together beautifully

  3. Such a lovely card, Amy, and so springlike as I look at 6″ of snow on everything. (It is beautiful, though, and no wind) Like Sandi, I can’t wait to get my hands on these butterflies..

  4. Beautiful, Springy and Wonderful! Breath of fresh air for me. Am so ready for bright spring type cards and such! I’m in love! Thanks Amy!
