Today I’m sharing a card that I made using the Build A Blossom stamp set from Stampin’ Up.

This card was actually fairly easy to put together.  I started by cutting a 5-1/2″ x 11″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock to use as my card base.  I scored the card stock at 5-1/2″ and folded it.  Then I cut  a 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ panel of Whisper White Card Stock and embossed it with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  I was able to emboss the entire piece by cutting it and embossing 2 separate pieces since the seam would be hidden by the additional layers.

Then I cut a strip of Whisper White Card stock to 1-1/8″ x 5-1/4″ and embossed it with the Delicate Designs snowflake looking design.  Next I cut a strip of Whisper White Card Stock to 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ and I cut one edge with the Large Scallop Edgelit and I embossed it with the Delicate Designs scallop design.  Next I cut two Whisper White banners using the larger banner from the Bitty Banners Framelits and I cut them in half.  I sponged the edges of the background panel, the banners and the snowflake embossed strip with Cherry Cobbler ink.

Then I went to work on the poinsettia.  I started by stamping 7 of the large petals and 9 of the medium petals from the Build a Blossom stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on Cherry Cobbler Card Stock.  I punched them all out using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch and I slightly curled them using my bone folder.  I also stamped 7 of the larger leaves in Garden Green ink on Garden Green Card Stock and I punched those out too.  Next I stamped the small center in Daffodil Delight ink on Daffodil Delight Card Stock and I punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch.

Once all of the flower pieces were ready, I started to assemble it.  For my flower base, I cut the largest circle using the Circles #2 die (you could also use a large circle or scallop circle punch if you don’t have the die) out of Whisper White Card Stock.  Then I placed the large Cherry Cobbler petals the opposite way that the flower petals are normally used (pointed side out) over the circle on top of my card base to get an idea of how far apart to place them.  I drew a circle just inside the centers so that I’d have a guide when I started to adhere the petals.

Then I applied my adhesive around the outside of the circle that I’d drawn and to the back of each petal and I adhered the petals to the die cut circle.  Then I added the second layer of petals medium sized petals (also the opposite direction from the way that they are normally used) over the top of the large petals.  I applied 1/2 of a Stampin’ Dimensional to the center of each of those petals to give them a little lift and I applied adhesive to the piece of the petal that pointed in and I adhered them around the circle.

Then I added the Daffodil Delight flower center using a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere it.  Then I went back to work on the background.  I layered the background panels and adhered them to the card base.  Then I adhered the flower to the card base, using Sticky Strip and I adhered the 7 Garden Green leaves around the flower.  To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark in on a Whisper White banner, sprinkled it with Pewter Stampin’ Emboss Powder and I heat embossed it.  I snipped a little flag in the end and I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
