I started by cutting 4 rectangles of Fan Fair DSP to 2-1/8″ x 3-1/8″ and adhering them to the sides of the box with SNAIL Adhesive. Then I cut a 3-1/8″ x 3-1/8″ square of the same DSP and I adhered that to the box top.
Next, I started working on the belly band. I cut a 12″ x 1″ and a 1-1/2″ x 1″ strip strip of DSP. Since the 12″ strip is just a little too short to wrap completely around the box and give it enough room that you can take the band off, I adhered the shorter and longer strips together using Sticky Strip. Then I wrapped the band around the box and adhered the two ends together using Sticky Strip, making sure that I had a little extra room to allow the band to slide off without ripping it. I also made sure that the pieced together ends were on the top of the box so that they would be hidden by the bow.
To make the bow, I cut a strip of 8-1/2″ x 1″, a strip of 7-1/2″ x 1″ and a strip of 2-1/2″ x 1″ DSP. I made a loop with the 8-1/2″ strip and adhered the ends together with SNAIL Adhesive and a made a second loop with the 7-1/2″ strip as well. I squeezed the larger loop in the middle (making sure that the place where the ends were adhered together was also in the center) until the two sides met, then I did the same thing with the 7-1/2″ loop and I stacked them on top of each other. Then I wrapped the 2-1/2″ strip around the two squeezed loop and I adhered it together on the bottom side using SNAIL Adhesive.
Then I started working on the Creped Filter Paper flowers. For each flower, I punched 3 Blossom punches. I stacked them together, pierced the center and placed a brad through the hole.
Then I turned the flower over and opened the brad and pushed the brad prongs up so it sort-of squeezed up the flower.
Next, I took about a 6 inch piece of Baker’s Twine and started wrapping it around the flower base inside the brad prongs. I made sure that I left enough of an end loose before I started wrapping that I could tie it off once I’d finished wrapping.
Then I took a little painters tray (one that came from my daughter’s painting stash) and filled one of the cups with water and I added 1 drop of ink refill. I stirred them together so that the ink was evenly distributed.
Next, I dipped the flower into the water/ink refill mixture and allowed it to soak the color all the way through.
I let the flowers dry over night (they soaked up a lot of water!) and then trimmed the excess string and fluffed them up a bit. I adhered them to the top of the bow using Glue Dots. Here is the finished box.
The mini card started with a 3″ x 6″ Crumb Cake card base that I scored at 3″. I cut a 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ square of DSP and a 3-1/2″ x 1″ strip of DSP. I wrapped the 1″ strip around the 2-7/8″ square and I adhered it to the square of DSP. Then I colored the sentiment from the Pretty Petites stamp set using my Stampin’ Write Markers and I stamped it on Very Vanilla Card Stock. I punched the sentiment out using the Petite Curly Label Punch. I punch a Curly Label out of Riding Hood Red Card Stock and I embossed it with the Fancy Fan embossing folder. I adhered the two punches together using Stampin’ Dimensionals and I adhered the layered punches to the card front also using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish the card, I added two of the medium sized Rhinestones to each side of the sentiment and I adhered the entire card front to the Crumb Cake card base.
