Stained Glass Technique

Today I’m sharing a card that I created using the Stained Glass Technique.  I used the Bordering on Romance and Loving Thoughts stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! for this card.

Bordering on Romance

I started by stamping the flower image from the Bordering on Romance stamp set in VersaMark ink on Vellum.  Then I sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

Then turned my image over so that the back side was up and I squeezed my  Primrose Petals ink pad case in the center (to get a little ink on the inside cover), opened it up and used the ink on the cover to color the flowers with a Blender Pen.

I used the same method to apply Summer Starfruit and Gumball Green ink to the image.

When I was finished coloring, I flipped my image back over so the embossed side was up and this is the result.

Bordering on Romance 4

I adhered the Vellum to a piece of Whisper White card stock, then to the card base with SNAIL.

Bordering on Romance 6

To create the frame, I cut a strip of Gumball Green from the In Color DSP Stack and a strip of Primrose Petals card stock.  I cut the edge of the Primrose Petals card stock with the Large Scallop Edgelits, then adhered both strips of card stock to a Whisper White panel in the center only (need to be able to remove the outside strips to emboss) with SNAIL.  I cut the layered panels with my Oval Collection Framelits die (I kept it in place with Blue Painters Tape).

Bordering on Romance 5

I ran the scalloped Primrose Petals strip back through the Big Shot with the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder, then adhered the strips to the Whisper White panel with SNAIL.  I adhered the layered panel over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I added a strip of pearls to either side of the oval image.

Bordering on Romance 7

I stamped the sentiment from the Loving Thoughts stamp set in Gumball Green ink on Whisper White card stock, adhered it to a strip of Gumball Green card stock, cut a flag end, then adhered the layered sentiment to the card front with SNAIL.  I added an In Color Dahlia with a Glue Dot to hold it in place next to the sentiment.  Then I stamped the butterfly image from the Best of Butterflies stamp set on Primrose Petals card stock in VersaMark ink, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, heat embossed it,  punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I stamped the butterfly image in Primrose Petals in on a Whisper White panel and I adhered it to the inside of the card to finish it.
