Two Simply Sketched Holiday Cards and a Little Blog Candy!!

Today Sandi MacIver (my upline) and I have both created clean and simple, easily reproducible and mailable holiday cards using the Simply Sketched hostess stamp set and the Season of Style DSP from Stampin’ Up! to share with you today.  We’re including the costing to make a stack of the CAS cards in our posts again so you can see how inexpensively that you can create your own!  And we’re also featuring a “stepped up” version of our cards as well.

My card designs were inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 191.

I’ll show you my clean and simple card first.

I started by stamping the sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set in VersaMark ink on an Old Olive Textured card stock panel.  I sprinkled the sentiment with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL then to a Cherry Cobbler card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then I cut two strips of Season of Style DSP, punched the ends with the Hexagon Punch (you can also cut the banner ends with a scissors) and adhered them to the card front with SNAIL.  Next, I stamped the bird image from the Simply Sketched stamp set in StazOn Jet Black ink on a Whisper White panel and I colored it with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I tore a small piece of Whisper White card stock and adhered it under the bird image with SNAIL, then cut the image out with one of the Circles Collection Framelits Dies.  I applied Dazzling Details over the torn paper to give it the appearance of snow.  Once the Dazzling Details had dried, I adhered the stamped circle with SNAIL to another Circles Collection die cut from Cherry Cobbler Textured card stock, then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I also added three rhinestones to the card front to complete it.

I finished the inside of the card by stamping the sentiment from the More Merry Messages stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on a Whisper White panel, then adhering a strip of Season of Style DSP.

Here is the cost breakdown for creating 48 cards (this is assuming that you already have the stamp sets, Circles Collection Framelits, Hexagon Punch and SNAIL adhesive):

Total $33.75 or $0.70 per card

You can use the different sizes of Rhinestones to change up your cards and maximize your supplies.  And I always cut my Stampin’ Dimensionals in half so you get twice as many per pack!  Since you’ll have plenty of leftover Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Textured Card Stock, Season of Style DSP and Whisper White Card Stock, you can make 48 additional cards by purchasing another Pack of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock (119685) and another pack of Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246).  The total for making 48 additional cards is $22.55 or $0.47 per card for the second batch.

And here is my “stepped up” version.

I started by embossing a panel of Cherry Cobbler Textured card stock with Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Then I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I adhered the embossed panel to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL.  I adhered a strip of 1/8″ Silver Ribbon to a strip of Cherry Cobbler 1″ Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon with SNAIL, then adhered the layered ribbon to the panel with SNAIL.  I adhered the panel to an Old Olive card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the leaf image in Stazon Jet Black ink on a Whisper White panel, then again on a panel of Old Olive Textured card stock.  I colored the berries with my Stampin’ Write Marker, then cut the leaves out of the Old Olive Textured card stock and adhered them to the Whisper White panel with SNAIL.  I added a little “snow” to the leaves and berries by coloring just a touch on each of them with the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker, then applying Dazzling Details over it.  Once the Dazzling Details dried, I cut the image out with an Ovals Collection Framelits die, adhered it with SNAIL to an Ovals Collection Framelits die cut from Old Olive Textured card stock, then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.   I finished the card front by adhering one of the Frosted Finishes Embellishments with a Glue Dot and two rhinestones.

I finished the inside of the card by stamping the branch image in StazOn Jet Black on a Whisper White panel and coloring it with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink.
