Stampin’ Up! Indescribable Gift Watercolor Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Indescribable Gift to create my card for the Stamping and Blogging SB95 sketch today.  Be sure to stop by the other Design Team Member’s blog to check out their creations too!

Here is the Stamping and Blogging SB95 sketch:

The colors for my card were inspired by The Paper Players #235.

I started by stamping the image from the Indescribable Gift stamp set twice in StazOn Jet Black Ink on a panel of Watercolor Paper.  I painted the images with my Aqua Painter and my Crisp Cantaloupe, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake and So Saffron ink pads.

For watercoloring with Stampin’ Up! ink, I just give each ink pad a little squeeze in the center while it’s closed, then open the ink pad and use my Aqua Painter to lift the ink from the lid and apply it to the images.  To get a little darker shading, I go back and repaint a second round of ink over those areas.  It’s really simple and fun to do!

Once the watercolor paper was completely dry, I adhered it with Fast Fuse Adhesive to a panel of Wild Wasabi card stock, then to a Crisp Cantaloupe card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set in Wild Wasabi ink on a strip of So Saffron card stock, punched one end with the Banner Punch and sponged it lightly with Crumb Cake ink.

I rolled a bit of the sentiment strip (about 1/2″) into a tight roll, unrolled it, then added a little Fast Fuse adhesive to area to be rolled and I rolled it up again to hold it in place.  I adhered the sentiment strip to the card front with Fast Fuse as well.

You know how we always say that there are, “no mistakes in card making, only opportunities for embellishment”…well, I had an “opportunity” with this card.  I somehow stuck the edge of my finger in some Crisp Cantaloupe ink and then set my hand down on the watercolor paper to paint.  Oopsie!  I created a little smudge way outside the lines with that!  I thought for a minute about what to do, then the butterfly punch came to my rescue!!

I stamped the butterfly image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in So Saffron ink on a panel of Watercolor Paper, then added a little Crisp Cantaloupe ink around the edges with my Aqua Painter.  I brushed the entire image with a little plain water and my Aqua Painter to give it a little softer look, then let the image dry completely and I punched it out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  I adhered the butterfly to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals (and it’s turned “just so” to cover up my boo-boo!) and added Pearl Basics Jewels to the center of the butterfly and the sentiment strip.

I stamped the flower image from the Indescribable Gift stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe ink on a Very Vanilla panel inside the card.

Now that you’ve seen my project, be sure to stop by the other Stamping & Blogging Design Team Member’s blogs to see what they’ve created with this sketch.
