Stampin’ Up! Artfully Aware With Dear Doily Sympathy Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! Artfully Aware stamp set and Dear Doily stamp set bundle to make a sympathy card to share with you today.  This is one of the most difficult cards that I’ve ever had to make, I spent almost as much time crying as I did stamping as I created it.  I lost a friend and fellow autism mom last weekend, she was only 37 years old and left behind two small children (one with autism).  I’m so heartbroken for this family.

I started by stamping the sentiment from the Dear Doily stamp set in Early Espresso ink on a panel from the Wood Textures DSP Stack.  I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Early Espresso card stock with SNAIL and then to a Sahara Sand card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the image from the Artfully Aware stamp set in Early Espresso ink on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock and then colored the image with Light and Dark Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs.  I also added a little bit of color with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker for the hair and the Ivory Stampin’ Blends Marker for the skin.  I did a quick outline around the image with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker and then the Color Lifter to give it a very light shadow.  After coloring the image, I cut it out with a die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card front.

I inked the flower image from the Dear Doily stamp set with Pear Pizzazz ink and then used a Blender Pen to remove the green ink from the flowers.  I colored the flowers in with a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Marker and then stamped the image on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock twice.  I cut the images out with the coordinating Doily Builder Thinlits Die and adhered the flowers with Glue Dots and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added three of the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets to the card front to finish it.

I stamped the sentiment from the Dear Doily stamp set in Early Espresso ink and then added the flower image in Pear Pizzazz and Flirty Flamingo inks (used the Blender Pen method described above) to a panel of Very Vanilla card stock to finish the inside of the card.

I’m not so awesome with words are rarely know the right thing to say…I will miss our chats at the park where our kids loved to play together.  So sorry that I can’t give her one last hug goodbye.  RIP my friend, we’ll keep an eye on your littles and watch them grow.
