Pool Party and Wild Wasabi Swallowtail

Today I’m sharing a card that was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches #73 Challenge.  I created this card using the Swallowtail and Papillon Potpourri stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

Here is the list of products that you will need to create this card:

I started with a Pool Party card base cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″.  I cut a panel of Chocolate Chip card stock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and I stamped the Swallowtail image in VersaMark Ink.  Then I used a spoon to sprinkle Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the center of the butterfly image and Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the edges of the wings and I heat embossed the image.  Next, I wrapped a piece of the wider Delicate Details Lace Tape around the bottom of the card.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Loving Thoughts stamp set in VersaMark Ink on Whisper White card stock, sprinkled it with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I trimmed the sentiment down to 1/2″ x 5″, adhered it to a strip of Pool Party card stock that I’d cut to 5/8″ x 5″, cut the flag end with a scissors and adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.  Then I punched a 1-1/4″ Circle from Chocolate Chip card stock and a 1-3/8″ circle from Pool Party card stock, adhered them together with SNAIL, then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stamped the butterfly image from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set on Pool Party card stock in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I punched out the butterfly with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered it to the layered circles with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Then I punched the smaller butterfly out of Wild Wasabi card stock and I adhered it with SNAIL over the larger butterfly punch.  To finish the card, I ran Baker’s Twine through one of the Pool Party buttons from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, tied a knot and adhered it over the layered butterflies with a Glue Dot.

I’m really liking the new Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder!  It looks fantastic on dark and light card stock.  This is the first time that I’ve tried to use two different embossing powders on the same image.  It was actually much less messy then I thought it would be.  I used a spoon to control the amount and location of the powder and I used the powders one at a time and cleaned the first one up before starting to use the second one so I didn’t end up with the powders mixing together.  Hope that you like the effect, I thought that it was very pretty!
