I used the Stampin’ Up! Barn Door stamp set bundle to create a fun slider card to share with you today.
One other quick update from me…I’m in the process of doing a little blog revamp. No big changes, just freshening up the look a bit. Stop by to check out the new look here and let me know what you think! Still working on a few pieces of it, but it’s mostly done. 🙂
The colors for my card were inspired by Color Throw Down #474. Okay…so I cheated just a tiny bit by adding the flowers, but the rest of it works! 🙂
I started by cutting a panel of Smoky Slate card stock with the slide die from the Sliding Door Framelits Dies. Quick Tip: When you’re using this die set, make sure that you leave room at the top for the “rail” die cut. If you like the look of the rail on my card, I placed the die so that the top of the first slot was about 3/4″ from the top of the Smoky Slate card stock panel. Once I had the slots cut, I embossed the card stock panel with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.
I sponged the edges of the embossed panel with Soft Suede ink to give it a little contrast from the actual door die cut. I stamped the sentiments from the Barn Door stamp set in Basic Black Archival Ink on a 2-1/2″ x 4″ panel of Very Vanilla card stock and I adhered it to the embossed panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I stamped the wreath image from the Barn Door stamp set in Calypso Coral and So Saffron inks on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock. I cut the flower section of each stamped image with the matching die from the Sliding Door Framelits Dies. I adhered the flower die cuts next to the sentiment with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I stamped the Barn Door image in Basic Black ink on a panel of Smoky Slate card stock and then cut it out with the Sliding Door Framelits Dies. I stamped the wreath image in Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron and Calypso Coral inks on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock and I cut them out with the Sliding Door Framelits Dies. Then I cut the door handle, rail and rollers from Basic Black card stock with the dies from the Sliding Door Framelits Dies. I adhered the rail to the embossed panel and the rollers and handle to the door with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, then added the wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Glue Dots.
Since I didn’t have washers that Stampin’ Up! used in their instructional video (you can see it here), I improvised and used 3/4″ Circle Punches from Smoky Slate card stock and they worked great! No extra bulk or weight from the washers! I punched four circles and placed them behind the die cut slots. I adhered a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to the top of each of the circle punches and then place the die cut door over it.
I adhered the layered card front to a Basic Black card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals to finish the outside of the card.
I stamped the sentiment from the Barn Door stamp set in Basic Black ink on a Very Vanilla card stock panel and then colored the wreath image with Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it next to the sentiment inside the card.
