Stampin’ Up! Winter Woods with Dashing Deer

I have been seeing this really cool “sparkler art” video with die cut paper deer on a canvas all over Facebook…it’s really neat to watch and I love the result!  However, I didn’t have sparklers…and if I did, I was afraid that I’d burn the house down trying to recreate it, so I opted to try for a stamped version instead!  🙂

It took me a few tries with different techniques to get a similar look to the sparkler art.  It was very simple, just took a few tries to get the effect to work without too much of the ink running.  I started by stamping the two images from the Dashing Deer stamp set (available Sept 5) in VersaMark ink on a panel of Shimmery White paper.  I sprinkled the deer with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then heat embossed them.

I stamped the tree line image from the Winter Woods stamp set (available Sept 5) in Soft Suede ink over the deer images and then lightly spritzed the panel with water and a Stampin’ Spritzer.  I held the Spritzer about 24 inches away from the panel, sprayed the water and then moved the paper toward the mist rather than spraying the panel directly.  This technique allowed a little more control over how saturated the panel got.  Once I got most of the panel damp, I set it aside to dry.

There were a few areas that didn’t have much color around the deer, so I sponged a little more Soft Suede ink on the panel with a Sponge Dauber to make the deer stand out more.  I wiped the excess ink off the embossed images with a paper towel.  Then I adhered the panel to a Thick Whisper White card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I stamped the sentiment from the Winter Wood stamp set in Real Red ink on a panel of Shimmery White card stock and then cut it out with a Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.  I adhered it to an oval cut from Real Red card stock with a larger Layering Ovals Frameits Die with SNAIL.

I cut another panel of Shimmery White card stock with the branch die from the In the Woods Frameits Dies (available Sept 5) and then adhered the die cuts with Glue Dots to the card front.  I added the layered ovals with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then adhered three gold Metallic Pearls to finish the card front.

I stamped the sentiment and border image from the Dashing Deer stamp set in Real Red and Soft Suede inks on a panel of Whisper White card stock inside the card.
