Bloomin’ Marvelous Flowers and Butterflies Card

Today I’m sharing a card that I created with the Bloomin’ Marvelous Sale-a-bration exclusive set from Stampin’ Up!  Make sure that you get your orders in soon, there are only 5 more Sale-a-bration days left to earn this set for free with your $50 Stampin’ Up! order.

My card was inspired by the colors for the Fab Friday 14 Color Challenge:

Bloomin' Marvelous

I stared by adhering the Tea for Two DSP panel to the Lucky Limeade panel with SNAIL.  Then I started working on my ribbon.  The ribbon is the Whisper White Organza Ribbon, but I dyed it using a mixture of 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and Sahara Sand Ink Refill drops in my Stampin’ Spritzer.  I first saw this technique in a tutorial here that Patty Bennett created.

Bloomin' Marvelous 1

Since I was only dying two fairly small pieces of ribbon, I filled my Stampin’ Spritzer bottle about 1/4 full with rubbing alcohol and added two drops of Sahara Sand ink refill.  If you want a darker color to your ribbon, simply add more ink refill drops.  I spritzed the ribbon, then let it dry completely (it only took about 15 minutes).  The color does dry a bit lighter than it initially appears, so if it’s too light, just add more refill drops to your Spritzer and spray the ribbon again.

Bloomin' Marvelous 2

While the ribbon was drying, I cut the Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand panels with my Labels Collection Framelits Dies and I stamped the flower and leaf images from the Bloomin’ Marvelous stamp set in Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral ink.  I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink on Very Vanilla card stock, then inked up the leaf and flower images again, stamped them off on scrap paper once and stamped them over the sentiment. I punched out the sentiment with my Large Oval Punch and adhered it to a Lucky Limeade Scallop Oval Punch.  I stamped the butterfly image in Calypso Coral, punched it out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and adhered it with a Glue Dot to a Pink Pirouette Elegant Butterfly Punch that I’d embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder.

Then I adhered the Sahara Sand panel and the ribbon to the DSP panel with SNAIL.  I layered the stamped panel over the ribbon and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I adhered the butterfly and sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the bow was adhered with a Glue Dot.  I added pearls to the flower centers and to the butterfly.

Bloomin' Marvelous 3

To finish the card, I stamped the flower and leaf images on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Lucky Limeade card stock, then adhered the layered panels to the card base with SNAIL.

  1. Very pretty and soft design….you are the first I have seen to use our metallic pens to tint our beautiful organza ribbon…adds to the softness.

  2. I was going thru my old email & saw this–thought I would tell you that my daughter uses sponge daubers to make this type of ribbon match whatever her project is 🙂
