Clean and Simple Best of Butterflies Plus Some Blog Candy!!

I thought it was about time for some blog candy again…so lets chat about what we’d like to see in the new catalog!

If you’d like to be entered to win my blog candy package, just leave a comment on this post before Saturday evening (4/20/13) telling me either what item you hope to see in the new catalog or what item you’ll be sad to see retire (or both!) and your name will go in the hat to win!  I’ll announce the winner on my blog post Sunday morning.  Anyone can leave a comment, but I’m only able to give the blog candy to someone with a US address, sorry about that.

I’m hoping for new stamp sets that go with the existing Framelits Dies and some new Framelits too!  I think that I’m most sad about Baja Breeze leaving, it’s one of my favorite colors.  Don’t forget that Stampin’ Up’s retiring list will be posted on Wednesday, April 24 (and I’ll post it on my blog for you too) so you’ll have a few weeks to grab your favorite things before they’re gone.

By leaving me a comment, you’ll be entered to win:  Stampin’ Up! Hostess stamp set Happy You in clear mount, a package of 5/8″ Neutrals Assortment Brads and a spool of Marina Mist 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon.  Thanks for leaving me a comment and good luck!

I’m really liking the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Best of Butterflies.  This is the first time that I’ve played with it and I know that I’ll be using it again soon.  And when you collect six of the Best Of stamp sets, you can send your collectors card with the “25” year stickers attached to Stampin’ Up! and they’ll send you a free stamp set of your choice valued up to $14.95!  See all of the Best of Stamp sets here in my online store.

Best of Butterflies

I started by stamping the butterfly images from the Best of Butterflies stamp set in Elegant Eggplant on a River Rock panel.  I adhered the panel to an Elegant Eggplant panel with SNAIL.  Then I wrapped Elegant Eggplant 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon (with the dot side down) and Melon Mambo 3/8″ Striped Organdy Ribbon around the panel, adhered them with SNAIL, then adhered the layered panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Best of Butterflies 1

I colored the sentiment from the A Round Array Stamp set with my Stampin’ Write Markers, stamped it on River Rock card stock, punched it out with my 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered it with SNAIL to a 1″ Circle Punch from Melon Mambo card stock.  I adhered the layered circles to an Elegant Eggplant 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch with SNAIL, then I adhered the layered sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card front by stamping the butterfly in VersaMark Ink on White Vellum card stock, sprinkling it with Melon Mambo Stampin’ Emboss Powder, heat embossing it and punching it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  I adhered the butterfly to the card front with a little bit of SNAIL under the center.

Best of Butterflies 2

I finished the inside of the card by adhering a panel of Elegant Eggplant and a panel of River Rock that I’d stamped along the edge with the butterfly images.

  1. I am sad that the watercolor pencils are gone. I would like to see in the new catalog some sentiments stamps for the inside of the cards.

  2. Cool card! Love the butterflies. I would like to see a set of stamps with all get well sentiments and verses. Don’t know why those are so hard to find. Also would like a punch to match the honeycomb embossing folder-I have an awful time cutting those little hexagons-and I love the look of them filled in with patterned papers
As to what I would be sad to see go, as we only know the colors that are retiring, I would have to say I’m sad to see Regal Rose and Baja Breeze go. Such pretty colors.

  3. I would like to see in the new catalog a hexagon punch sized for the honeycomb folder & new embossing folder designs & new framelits w/ matching stamp sets!! I really havent been paying attention to what is going to be discontinued so for now I have no comment on that, but dont worry I will whine about it when it does happen…it helps me deal….LOL.

  4. Hoping they will have a punch or framelit set for the umbrellas in Rain or Shine set.
I also am so sad to see Baja Breeze retire… Maybe it will return some day!!

  5. What a beautiful card Amy, I love butterflies…can’t wait to see what you do with the Best of Butterflies stamp set.
I think I agree with you about the Baja Breeze…that is also one of my favorites, I’m also sad to see the More Mustard go.
We have two sons, and with Birthdays and Father’s Day coming up, I’ve been looking for masculin stamps, so I’m hoping to see more stamps for guys in the the new catalog.

  6. I have a very BIG wish list so here’s just a small list. I’d like to see more German stamp sets and more simply sent embroidery kits (perhaps with a seasonal design – stockings, ornaments, pumpkins, leaves, butterflies, kites, birds, hearts, shamrocks, snowflakes, etc. – or for an occasion – baby, wedding, birthday, etc.). I’d also like to see a hexagonal punch to match the honeycomb EF as well as new framelits with matching stamp sets (leaves, kites, pumpkins, stockings, etc) and lovely cursive script sentiment stamps.

I’m really sad that so many of my favorite colors are retiring especially Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Not Quite Navy and Bravo Burgundy. However, I’m excited to see the return of some former “in colors” specifically Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride and Crushed Curry. I guess this color renovation means that I’ll have to buy another color coach.

Thanks for the opportunity to win some blog candy. Happy stamping!

  7. Great card~ I love that stamp set, too. I am sad that Certainly Celery is leaving. Would love a hexagon punch for the honeycomb EF (seems like a popular request !!) and hopefully the Secret Garden Stamp set and framelits will carry over. Thanks for the blog candy offer !!

  8. Hi Amy, That is an awesome card! I am very sorry to see not quite navy and regal rose leave the color chart, but to lose certainly celery go really makes me sad. However looking forward to the new catalog and all the new things I’ll just have to own.

  9. Hello,
I am sad to see Bashful blue and baja breeze go. I’d like to see stamp sets for grandparents. I think they rock! 🙂
I enjoy seeing your creations. Thanks for sharing them and for offering a chance to win the blog candy

  10. thanks for the giveaway! i’m really sad we’re losing more mustard but happy to see that crushed curry is back. we definitely need that color of yellow. too many aqua blues! and i really hope that the butterfly punches stay in.

  11. I will miss More Mustard ink and I would love to be able to purchase a hexagon punch–the size of hexagon that would fit the honeycomb embossing folder. I like following your blog. Thank you for of your creative ideas.

  12. What I’ll miss most is Certainly Celery ink. And it would be neat if they added computer-related stamp sets. That would help with making masculine cards.

  13. Beautiful card! I’d like to see a hexagonal punch. I’d also like to see the Pool Party emboss powder carry over from the Spring catalog to the new Annual catalog.

  14. I hate to see Certainly Celery leave Stampin’ Up! inventory. I love that color and it works so well with the subtles. I live Perfect Pear, but not as much.
I really hope that the doilies, build-a-brad flower, dies, and framelits stay. Really looking forward to some special beautiful ribbon. The ribbon this year really missed the mark.

  15. I’m also excited to see more framelets & matching stamp set in the new catalog. Also can’t wait to see more ribbons & colored baker’s twine. I’m most upset about lucky limeade being retired. I do love that color. Always seems to be the perfect green for me.

  16. I love your butterfly card…the velum embossed butterfly is beautiful!!!!! I will miss Certainly Celery and Pretty In Pink…as well as any purple! I would love more framelits and agree that we need one for the umbrellas! I also would like to see different ribbon styles….change is hard but we usually find the great in our new items and learn to love them as well! Thank you for this question and offering blog candy!

  17. I am new to Stampin’ Up and love their stamp sets but would like to see more masculine and military stamp sets in their new catalog .

  18. I’m sad about some of the ink colors they discontinued, specifically chocolate chip and a couple others. I recently discovered an old stash of cardstock that color, and now that I’m finally in to cards, I can see the beauty of the colors matching! I would love to see a hexagon punch as well.

  19. Certainly Celery is one of my favorite colors along with Baja Breeze. I’m sad to see them go. I’d also like to see a hexagon punch and more ribbons. Thanks for your generous blog candy giveaway.

  20. I’m hoping for more framelit & coordinating stamp sets! Thanks for the chance to win some non-fattening “candy”!

  21. I will miss Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue as they are the perfect colors for baby cards and many other applications. My wish list would include a variety of sentiments and alphabet framelits. Thank you for all your inspiration!

  22. Your butterfly card is really pretty, love the design of using all of the stamps in the set on one card, and how you did the inside of the card, too. I’m excited to see what new framelits SU has in store for us this next year, and possibly new punches, I cave for most all of them! Thanks for the inspiration you share on your blog and a chance at this generous blog candy!

  23. Hello-thanks for the great blog candy opportunity 🙂
I liked more mustard with fall leaf cards & will miss baja breeze. I would like a chevron & hexagon punch or maybe a chevron framelit

  24. we really need two hexagon punches – one for the honeycomb embossing folder and one for the front of the this and that album ! I absolutely love love love your butterfly card, such a beautiful color combo and great design.

  25. Well, I think we all agree on a hexagon punch ! Or a chevron type punch. However, I don’t think we’re going to get either, and that makes me sad. But I love love love all of the stamp sets, and can’t wait to see some new ones. Your card above is simply lovely.

  26. I would like to see more masculine stamps and verse stamps for the inside of cards! Said to see the watercolor crayons going, love them!
