Goodbye to Beautiful Birthday and Distressed Dots…Hello Simply Pressed Clay!

It’s getting close to retirement time for the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Birthday and Distressed Dots stamps, but we get to say “hello” to a fantastic new embellishment, Simply Pressed Clay.  This stuff is so cool, you can add ink to dye it, use the new Buttons & Blossoms molds to shape it or press a stamp into the clay to create a one-of-a-kind embellishment!  Just knead the ink in, press it into the mold or shape that you want, pop it into the freezer for about 20 minutes, then pop the clay out of the mold and let it dry completely.  I used the clay and a little bit of Pool Party ink to create the three flowers on my card.

My card design was inspired by the Mojo Monday 291 Sketch.

Beautiful Birthday

I started by stamping the Distressed Dots image in Crumb Cake ink on a Crumb Cake panel.  Then I adhered two Pool Party flags that I cut from the 2011-13 In Color DSP Stacks with SNAIL to the panel.  I cut a flag from the Pool Party Core’dinations card stock, embossed it with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, sanded the raised areas and adhered it with SNAIL to the panel.  I wrapped a piece of Crumb Cake 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon and a piece of Pool Party 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon around the panel and adhered them with SNAIL.  Then I adhered the decorated panel to a Crumb Cake card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Beautiful Birthday 1

I stamped the Beautiful Birthday sentiment on one of the embossed tags from the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit in VersaMark ink, sprinkled it with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I kneaded a little bit of Pool Party ink refill into a small piece of Simply Pressed Clay and I pressed the clay into the new Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Mold, placed the mold in the freezer for a few minutes, popped the flowers out and let them dry completely (I let mine dry overnight).  Then I punched four branches from Lucky Limeade card stock, snipped the long ends off and adhered them to the tag with SNAIL.  I used Sticky Strip to adhere the flowers over the branches.  I initially tried to adhere the flowers with Glue Dots but the Glue Dots wouldn’t stick…so then I read the directions and used Sticky Strip, which is one of the recommended adhesives for the Simply Pressed Clay.  🙂

Beautiful Birthday 2

To finish the card, I adhered a strip of Pool Party DSP from the DSP Stacks to the inside of the card with SNAIL.
