I saw a beautiful card on Pinterest the the other day and couldn’t wait to try out the Faux Embossing Technique. I used the new Hostess stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called Morning Meadow to create my card. The colors were inspired by the Dynamic Duos #56 Blushing Bride and Soft Suede Color Combination.
This technique is really fun, thanks to Brenda Keenan for providing her fantastic card and a great tutorial for this technique. You can see her card and view her video tutorial by clicking here. She even gives you a quick review of how to use a Stamp-a-ma-jig!
I started by stamping the flower images from the Morning Meadow stamp set in Whisper White Craft Ink on a Soft Suede panel. I dried the ink with my Heat Tool (you can just let it air dry too), then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image again in Soft Suede ink off-set just a bit from the original stamped image. I trimmed the corners of the Soft Suede panel with my 3/16″ Corner Punch then adhered a strip of Delicate Details Lace Tape across the bottom. I adhered the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a panel of Blushing Bride card stock that I’d embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder, then adhered the layered panel to the Soft Suede card base with SNAIL.
I stamped the sentiment image in Soft Suede ink on a Soft Suede panel, then stamped it again in Soft Suede ink on a Blushing Bride panel. I cut the center strip from the Blushing Bride panel and adhered it with SNAIL over the center of the Soft Suede panel. Then I cut the sentiment out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Die and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to an oval that I’d cut from Blushing Bride card stock and embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder. I adhered the layered ovals to the card front with SNAIL and added a Vintage Faceted Designer Button, using a Glue Dot to adhere it. I tied a knot from the Blushing Bride 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and used a Glue Dot to adhere it to the button.
I finished the inside of the card by stamping the flower image in Soft Suede ink on a Whisper White panel that I adhered inside the card.
