Simply Sketched in Pink Pirouette Plus Another Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek

I used the Stampin’ Up! hostess stamp set called Simply Sketched for my card share today.  I also used a new embossing folder from the 2013 Holiday Catalog called Pretty Print.  My card design was inspired by Retrosketches #72 and the colors were inspired by Dynamic Duos #61.

Simply Sketched

I started by stamping the Hello, Doily image in Sahara Sand ink on a Pink Pirouette panel.  Then I embossed the Pink Pirouette panel with the Pretty Print Embossing Folder and adhered the embossed panel to a panel of Sahara Sand card stock with SNAIL.

Once you see the Pretty Print Embossing Folder in the catalog, you’ll realize that it’s a horizontal folder not a vertical folder.  I was able to completely emboss this vertical background by running the panel through the Big Shot once, embossing as much of the panel as I could.  Then I ran the panel back through the Big Shot in the embossing Folder, this time placing only the unembossed part inside the folder.  I placed the embossing folder so that it was even with the end of the cutting plates and the previously embossed area was hanging off the platform entirely.  That allowed me to emboss only the top section and not smash the embossing that I’d done before.

One cool change that Stampin’ Up! has made is that they’ve made the embossing folders in this catalog slightly shorter so that they now fit through the Big Shot sideways again.   Woo hoo!!

Then I stamped the flower image from the Simply Sketched stamp set in StazOn Jet Black ink on a Whisper White panel.  I cut it out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits die and painted it with my ink pads and Aqua Painter.  Then I sponged the edges with Sahara Sand ink and adhered it with SNAIL to a Labels Collection Framelits die cut from Sahara Sand card stock that I’d embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder, then adhered the layered image to the card front with SNAIL.  Next, I punched out three Pink Pirouette flowers using the Boho Blossoms Punch and adhered them to the card front with SNAIL.  I punched a flower from Sahara Sand using the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and I adhered it over the larger center Pink Pirouette flower with SNAIL.  Then I adhered three Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons over the flowers using Glue Dots.

Simply Sketched 3

I adhered a strip of Delicate Details Lace Tape over the lower part of the card front, then stamped the sentiment from the Simply Sketched stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on a Whisper White panel.  I stamped over the sentiment a second time using Pink Pirouette ink, then I punched it out with the Large Oval Punch and adhered it with SNAIL to a Pink Pirouette Scallop Oval Punch.  I finished the card front by adhering the layered sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, placing two Candy Dot Brad Bases through the card front, adding two Sahara Sand Candy Dots to the centers and adhering the card front to a Pink Pirouette card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I finished the inside of the card by stamping the Hello, Doily image in Pink Pirouette and the Simply Sketched image in Sahara Sand on a Whisper White panel.

Update from Stampin’ Up! Regarding the Magnetic Platform

Due to an unfortunate backorder situation, the Big Shot Magnetic Platform (item 130658) will be temporarily turned off Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT).  This means that you won’t be able to buy it until further notice.  While we’re thrilled to be offering a product that you clearly like, we regret not being able to anticipate just how much you would like it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Here are answers to some of the questions you might have:

Why are you doing this?
We went through what we thought would be a 13-week supply of the Magnetic Platform in just three weeks, and rather than continuing the backorder situation for you, we believe it’s best to make it unavailable for purchase until we can replenish our inventory.  Our supplier is working at capacity to meet our demand, and we will continue working closely with them to get the situation addressed as quickly as possible.

When will the Magnetic Platform be available?
We expect that it will be available early fall.

What if I already ordered it when it was on backorder?
We’ll fill all closed backorders as we get more Magnetic Platforms in.  We are receiving periodic shipments from our vendor and as soon as they come in we’ll fulfill orders in the approximate order they were received.

Remember, you have until Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT) to place your order for the Magnetic Platform; all of these placed orders will be on backorder.
