The Open Sea Birthday Banner Card & A Note About PayPal

I used The Open Sea stamp set to create a masculine birthday card to share with you today.  I couldn’t resist adding a touch of the Birch Paper Ribbon from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.  I tried stamping on it for the first time and I think it has a really neat effect!

My card design was inspired by the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 278.

The Open Sea

I started by stamping the images from The Open Sea stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink on a panel of Soft Sky Core’dinations card stock.  I stamped the images off once on scrap paper before I stamped the Soft Sky panel.  I sanded the edges of the panel, then adhered it to a Chocolate Chip card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Next, I stamped the anchor image on a panel of Birch Paper Ribbon in Chocolate Chip ink and I adhered it to a panel of Sweater Weather DSP with SNAIL.  I cut the banner end with my Paper Snips, then adhered the banner to the card front with SNAIL.

The Open Sea 1

I stamped the ship image from The Open Sea stamp set and the sentiment from Four You stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink on a Soft Sky panel.  I cut out the ship image with the Circles Collection Framelits die, distressed and sponged the edges, then adhered it with SNAIL to a circle that I’d cut from Chocolate Chip Core’dinations card stock with the Circles #2 Originals Die.  I distressed and sponged the edges of the sentiment strip and adhered that to a strip of Chocolate Chip Core’dinations card stock.  Then I sanded the edges of both pieces of Core’dinations card stock and I adhered them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Open Sea 2

I finished the inside of the card by stamping the anchor image in Chocolate Chip ink (after stamping it off once on scratch paper) on a Soft Sky panel and adhering a strip of Chocolate Chip card stock and a strip of Birch Paper Ribbon.
