I used the Truly Grateful, Another Thank You Photopolymer and Papillon Potpourri stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! to create two thank you cards to share with you today. As you’ve probably guessed, I love to do sketch challenges and I wanted to show you how you can create two quick cards with one sketch for inspiration.
The cards were inspired by the Monday Lunchtime Sketch 288.
For the butterfly card, I started by adhering a panel of Afternoon Picnic DSP to a panel of Very Vanilla card stock. Then I stamped the Gorgeous Grunge (wood mount and clear mount) stripes in Wisteria Wonder ink on a a strip of Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon and I adhered it around the card stock panel with SNAIL. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to help with placement of the stamped image on the ribbon.
I stamped the sentiment from the Another Thank You Photopolymer stamp set in Wisteria Wonder ink just above the ribbon. Next, I stamped the three solid butterfly images from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in Wisteria Wonder ink on a Very Vanilla panel and I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and StazOn Jet Black ink to stamp the second butterfly image over the Wisteria Wonder image. I punched out the butterflies with my Bitty Butterfly Punch and adhered them to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I punched the flower layers from Wisteria Wonder and Very Vanilla card stock using the Boho Blossoms Punch and the flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I adhered the punched flowers together and then to the card front with Glue Dots. I finished the card front by adding a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the center of the flower and in a few random places on the card front. I also added a Large Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the lower right corner. Once the embellishment were complete, I adhered the panel to a Wisteria Wonder card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The inside of the card is simply another butterfly stamped from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch that was adhered to a Very Vanilla panel.
For the Chocolate Chip card, I started by stamping the woodgrain image from the Truly Grateful stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in Chocolate Chip ink on the lower half of a Sahara Sand panel. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to help with placement of this image as well.
I adhered two strips of Sweater Weather DSP over the center of the card stock panel, then I wrapped two strands of Natural Linen Thread around the panel and adhered them to the back with tape. I tied a bow from the Natural Linen Thread and adhered it to the card front with a rolled up Glue Dot.
I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig again to help me place the sentiment and I stamped it in Chocolate Chip ink just above the DSP strips. I adhered a Naturals Designer Button and a Crushed Curry button from the Regals Designer Buttons pack with Glue Dots to the card front after tying a piece of Nautral Linen Thread through each one. And I added an Antique Brad, using my Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin’ Pierce Mat. Once I had the embellishments complete, I adhered the panel to a Chocolate Chip card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I finished the inside of this card by adhering a strip of Sweater Weather DSP to a panel of Sahara Sand card stock.
Sketches are a great way to get your creativity going. I start by looking at the sketch and deciding what stamp sets that I have that fit closely to the shapes/size needed, then I decide the color scheme and start stamping and layering. Easy as that! And it’s amazing how many different cards you can come up with using the same basic elements.
The complete list of supplies for both cards, including card stock cuts, is at the very bottom of this post.
