Papillon Potpourri With a Little Gold Vellum – Stampin’ Up!

I used the Papillon Potpourri and Banner Blast stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! to create my card share for today.  I made this card for the Stamping & Blogging SB40 Sketch Challenge this week.  Be sure to check out what the other Design Team Members made with this sketch too, links to their blogs are below.

I started by adhering a panel of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum to a panel of Gold Foil Sheets, by using a little bit of SNAIL under each of the gold dots.  I stamped the image from the Banner Blast stamp set (Sale-a-bration item available Jan 28) in VersaMark Ink on a Melon Mambo panel, sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  Then I punched the banner out with the Banner Punch (Sale-a-bration item available Jan 28).

I punched a strip of the Gold Foil Sheets with Hexagon Punch, then embossed it with the Arrows Embossing Folder.  I layered the two banner strips together and adhered them to the vellum panel with SNAIL.  Next, I embossed two panels of Melon Mambo card stock with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (Sale-a-bration item available Jan 28), adhered them to panels of Gold Foil Sheets, then to the vellum panel with SNAIL.

Papillon Potpourri 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the butterfly images from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in VersaMark Ink on a panel of the Gold Foil Sheets, sprinkled them with Melon Mambo Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them.  **Just a note when stamping on the Foil Sheets, it’s helpful to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig even if you don’t need it to keep you stamp in place when you press down.  I had trouble with the stamp sliding and smearing the image until I pulled out my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Then I punched the images out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Papillon Potpourri 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the sentiment from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in VersaMark Ink on the vellum panel.  I sprinkled it with Melon Mambo Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  ***A quick note about heat embossing with the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum:  Be quick with your Heat Tool over the foil pieces, they melt a little if you heat them too much…ask me how I know!!

I tied pieces of the Gold Baker’s Twine through the two lager Vintage Faceted Buttons (on sale through Jan 27 for 25% off) and adhered them to the card front with Glue Dots.  For the smallest button, I tied a knot with the Gold Baker’s Twine and rolled up a Glue Dot to adhere it to the button top.  The holes in that button are too small for the thicker twines.  Then I adhered the final button to the card front with a Glue Dot and the whole panel to a Melon Mambo card base to complete it.

I used some leftover strips of the Gold Foil Sheets (I’d hate for any little bit to go to waste!!) under a Melon Mambo Elegant Butterfly Punch that I’d stamped and embossed with Gold Stampin’ Embossing Powder to complete the inside of the card.

You can find a complete list of supplies, including card stock cuts, at the very bottom of this post.

    • Thank you Barb! I ruined about 3 butterflies before I figured out that I couldn’t stop myself from smearing the ink…worked great once I pulled out my favorite tool! 🙂
