Choose Happiness By the Seashore & Stampin’ Up! Clearance Rack Updated

I mashed together two stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! to get a Choose Happiness By the Seashore card to share today.  I thought that it was a pretty catchy title.  🙂

By the Seashore - Stamp With Amy KMy card design today was inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch #83.

And by The Paper Players #203.

I started by cutting an oval with one of the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies from a piece of scrap paper.  I used the masking and sponging method that I described in this post.  For this card, I used a Whisper White panel and Coastal Cabana ink for sponging.  Then I inked up the script image from the By the Tide stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe ink, stamped it off once on scrap paper, then stamped it twice on the sponged area without reinking.  After stamping, I removed the mask.

My original plan was to stamp the images from the By the Seashore stamp set in Baked Brown Sugar Ink over the sponged area, but when I was done with that, I thought it needed a little something more.  So I stamped the images a second time in Baked Brown Sugar ink on a Whisper White panel, sponged them with Costal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe inks and cut them out with my Paper Snips.

I adhered the three images under the sentiment area to the Whisper White panel with SNAIL.  I pulled a few strands from the edges of the Burlap Ribbon that I was going to use under the sentiment and I taped them to the back of the starfish and last shell, then I adhered those images to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment from the Choose Happiness stamp set in Baked Brown Sugar Ink on a strip of Whisper White card stock.

Then I cut about an 8″ length of Burlap Ribbon, trimmed the stitched edges off and pulled strands from the edges and ends.  I ran a Fast Fuse Adhesive across the back of the sentiment strip and used a zig-zag motion to attach the ribbon to the back of the sentiment.  I ran another strip of Fast Fuse Adhesive across the stamped panel and adhered the sentiment to it.  I adhered the decorated panel to a panel of Baked Brown Sugar card stock with SNAIL, then to a Coastal Cabana card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card front by adding a few random sequins from the 2013-15 In Color Sequin Assortment pack, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere them.

For a quick video on how to apply the Fast Fuse Adhesive, click here.  There is a specific technique (and it’s really easy) for applying it so be sure to check out the video before you use it the first time.

I used the striped stencil from the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks to sponge a little Coastal Cabana ink on a Whisper White panel for inside the card.  Then I stamped the sand dollar image from the By the Seashore stamp set in Baked Brown Sugar ink and I sponged a little Crisp Cantaloupe ink over it to finish the panel.

    • Thanks so much Emily! I’m finding that I use the Burlap ribbon more if I trim it down a little, the smaller size is easier for me to add to my cards. I’m glad that you liked this one. 🙂

  1. Goodt use of that Seashore stamp set – always a favorite and the touch of burlap is perfect. Love your interpretation of the challenge, too. Great card!

  2. This is beautiful! The thumbnail over at the Paper Players just grabbed me so I had to come over and check your card out. I love how you layered the images on top of the card. Stamping them again and adding a pop of color really made them stand out. The addition of the burlap ribbon is the perfect finishing touch.

  3. I second everyone’s comments! Your card is absolutely gorgeous, the textures, the details, your technique….it’s all just so beautiful 🙂 Your title today especially catches my heart, the seashore brings me peace and happiness when I’m there. Hmm, can smell the salty air now, lol!
