Happy World Card Making Day!! I thought that I’d share two of the cards from my September card class with you today. We used the Ornamental Pine and Cheerful Christmas stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! to create holiday cards.
I’m posting these cards as I’m running out the door to my mini Stampin’ Up! retreat in Atlanta this weekend. I’ll be out for most of the day today and I’ll answer any messages as soon as I have a second.
We used both dry embossing and heat embossing techniques to create the cards. For the Ornamental Pine card, we focused on heat embossing. I borrowed a little inspiration for this card from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog…the catalog is loaded with great ideas! 🙂
The branch and pinecone images from the Ornamental Pine stamp set were stamped in VersaMark Ink on a Soft Sky panel, sprinkled with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed. The branch images were stamped again in VersaMark Ink on opposite corners, then the panel was adhered to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL.
A small strip of All Is Calm Designer Washi Tape was adhered to the stamped panel. Then the sentiment from the Ornamental Pine stamp set was stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink on a strip of Whisper White card stock and the strip was adhered to the embossed panel with SNAIL.
We tied a strand of Old Olive Baker’s Twine around the panel, then adhered the layered panel to a Lost Lagoon card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the card front to complete it.
For this card, we focused on embossing with an embossing folder. We started by coloring the sentiment from the Cheerful Christmas stamp set with Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers and stamping it on a Whisper White panel.
We embossed the stamped panel with the Filigree Frame Embossing Folder and we adhered it to a panel from the Trim the Tree DSP Stack with SNAIL. The layered panel was then adhered to a Cherry Cobbler card base with SNAIL.
We colored six Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blendabilities Marker, then adhered them to the card front to finish it.
Two holiday cards done in no time! Alright, I’m off to go meet up with the group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators for a fun day of swapping and stamping.
