Stampin’ Up! Four Feathers Grateful Card

I used the Four Feathers and For All Things stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! to create my card to share today.

Four Feathers - Stamp With Amy K

My card design was inspired by The Paper Players #222.  I saw Nance Leedy’s card here and loved the feathers, so I used her card for a little inspiration too!  🙂

Screen Shot 2014-11-17 at 2.42.13 PMMy card design was also inspired by Retrosketches #141.

I started by inking up the feather images from the Four Feathers stamp set in So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and Tangerine Tango inks.  Then I used a Sponge Dauber loaded up with Early Espresso ink to sponge the edges of the stamps.

Four Feathers 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the images down the right side of a panel of Naturals White card stock.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the For All Things stamp set in Early Espresso ink on the lower left side of the panel.  I inked up one of the feathers in So Saffron and Early Espresso inks, stamped it off once on scrap paper, then stamped it over the sentiment.

Four Feathers 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I inked up the feather images from the Four Feathers stamp set again in Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Tangerine Tango inks and sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink, then stamped them on a separate Naturals White panel.  I cut the images out with the Feathers Framelits Dies and adhered Linen Thread to the back of the feathers with tape.  I adhered the larger feather to the stamped panel with SNAIL and the two smaller feathers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For All Things - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Early Espresso card stock with SNAIL, then to a Wild Wasabi card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card front by coloring several Rhinestone Basic Jewels with my Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blendabilities Marker, then adhering them randomly around the feathers.

Four Feathers 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I inked up and sponged the feather images again then stamped them on a Naturals White panel inside the card.

  1. Great tip to sponge ink on the feather stamps before stamping. I used them last night and wasn’t happy with just one color. No more an issue thanks to your post.

  2. I would not have thought to use feathers for the Retrosketches challenge. I would probably have used flowers or balloons like everyone else. Your interpretation is clever and unexpected and your card is lovely.

  3. Amy, I just love this card!! You really gave the feathers a gorgeous coloring that really makes this card one of my all time favorites of yours. You are the reason that I bought this set, I was hesitant about the feather trend, however I am SO glad I did 🙂 I love all the detail that you put into the layering, rich coloring, awesome bling, and the humble twine that pops it even more. Gorgeous card, just beautiful 😉

  4. Thanks for the shout-out, Amy! I love the espresso edges you added to your feathers and this color combination is fabulous! Great accents with the loops of linen thread too! So glad you joined us at The Paper Players!
