Stampin’ Up! Sheltering Tree With Hanging Hearts

I couldn’t help myself, I used the Sheltering Tree stamp set from Stampin’ Up! to create my card again today.  I do love this set!!

Sheltering Tree - Stamp With Amy K

My card design was inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 252.

My card design was also inspired by The Card Concept 27.  I’d say that my card fits into the clean and layered category.

And the colors for my card were inspired by Sunday Stamps SSC93.

Screen Shot 2015-01-22 at 4.06.29 PMI started by stamping the tree image from the Sheltering Tree photopolymer stamp set in Whisper White Stampin’ Craft Ink on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock.  I felt like it didn’t show up quite as much as I wanted it to, so I stamped over the image with VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  The original image looks sort-of like a shadow, which I liked, so I went forward with the card.

Sheltering Tree 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the little leaf images from the Sheltering Tree stamp set on the lower part of the Crumb Cake panel in Real Red ink, then I added the little swing to the tree in Crumb Cake ink.  I punched several hearts from Red Glimmer Paper with the Hearts Border Punch and I adhered them just below the tree branches with touches of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I drew lines with the fine point of my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker from the branches to the hearts to make it appear as though they were hanging.

Sheltering Tree 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I inked up the sentiment from the Sheltering Tree stamp set one word at a time in Crumb Cake and Real Red inks and I stamped them on a Whisper White panel.  I used the Banners Framelits Dies to cut the sentiment out and I adhered it to a banner that I’d cut from Real Red card stock, then to the stamped panel with SNAIL.  I trimmed the top of the banners off so that they were even with the panel, then adhered the panel to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL.

I punched a heart from Red Glimmer Paper with the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and I adhered it to the banner with a Glue Dot.  Then I adhered the decorated panel to a Real Red card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hearts Border Punch - Stamp With Amy K

I punched the top of a Whisper White panel with the Hearts Border Punch, then adhered it inside the card.

  1. Another great way to use this stamp set for Valentine’s day! Those sparkly hearts look Fantastic; the heart leaves on the ground add such a nice touch! Amy, I feel the same way about the craft ink not being bright enough, but you don’t need to re-stamp with the versa mark, just add the ep to the already stamped image and heat.

    • Thanks for your nice comments on my card Roberta! 🙂 Your idea for embossing with the craft ink would have worked great except for the fact that I’d tried to rush the drying of the craft ink so I’d heat set it with my Heat Tool, then decided that it wasn’t dark enough…sometimes those “great” ideas in my head don’t always work out so well on my paper. 😉

  2. Such a sweet card! I have never had good results with the white craft ink but figured it was cockpit trouble and I just needed to learn how to use it better. I learned only a week ago that embossing powder can be used on wet craft ink so am going to try that method soon. I like the effect of the white shadow on your card. You are so clever, Amy!

  3. Amy, what a pretty card! I love how perfectly centered your words are in the banner and love the white tree of Kraft! Thanks for joining us at Sunday Stamps! 🙂

  4. Wow, Amy your details in this card are just outstanding. I love the way you anchored the hearts to the tree, not just hanging out in the middle of nowhere, lol. I’ve learned that technique detail from you, thank you 😉 All of those details add up into a beautiful card 🙂

  5. This card is just lovely Amy! I didn’t think to use this stamp set for a Valentine’s, but it looks adorable with those red hearts. Thanks for joining us at The Card Concept!
