Stampin’ Up! Celebrate Today Birthday Balloons

I used the Celebrate Today stamp set and matching Balloon Framelits from Stampin’ Up! to create my card to share today.

Celebrate Today - Stamp With Amy K

My card design was inspired by Retrosketches #152.

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 3.16.25 PMThe colors for my card were inspired by Hand Stamped Sentiments #205.

I started by embossing a panel of Coastal Cabana card stock with the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  I adhered the embossed panel to a Crushed Curry card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Celebrate Today 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered a panel of Whisper White card stock to a panel of Crushed Curry card stock, then to the card front with SNAIL.  Then I used the Balloon Framelits Dies to cut three balloons from the Best Year Ever DSP pack (Sale-A-Bration item).  I tied strands of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine around the bottom of the balloon die cuts, then adhered the Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral balloons with SNAIL and the Coastal Cabana balloon With Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Celebrate Today 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I tied the balloon strings together with another strand of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine, then added a rolled up Glue Dot under the bow to keep that in place.  I stamped the banner image from the Celebrate Today photopolymer stamp set in Calypso Coral ink twice on a Whisper White panel and cut them out with one of the Balloon Framelits Dies.  I adhered the banners to the card front with touches of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Celebrate Today 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the sentiments from the Celebrate Today stamp set in Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral inks on a strip of Whisper White card stock.  I punched the end of the strip with the Hexagon Punch, then adhered it to the card front with Glue Dots.  I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel and a Calypso Coral button from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack (Sale-A-Bration item), using a Glue Dot to adhere it, to finish the card front.

Best Year Ever DSP - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered a leftover strip from the Best Year Ever DSP pack to a strip of Crushed Curry card stock, then to a Whisper White panel inside the panel.

  1. This is such a fun birthday card, Amy! I love the twine for streamers…great use of the sketch! You could add this to the F4A challenge today: Double Triple: 3 inks & 3 embellishments~

    • Thanks so much for your comments Roberta! I saw the double triple challenge this morning when I was loading my card…but I only used 2 ink colors. Maybe I can go back and sneak some Crushed Curry ink on after the fact. 😉

  2. Those balloons are great! Perfect choice of DSP for this color challenge! Thanks for playing along with us at HSS!

  3. Oh boy, this is such a fun birthday card 🙂 You came up with such an awesome way to incorporate the colors into your card! Love the texture of the twine for the balloons and the dots embossing folder. Using the dsp for the balloons is genius – they really pop off your card 😉

  4. Very Cute!!! Great use of the dsp- Balloons are awesome!!! Great layout and texture!!! Thanks for playing along with HSS, Diane

  5. As always, just gorgeous! You have a way of adding “over the top” to your cards! I love the big balloons, bursting from the panel from the sketch. AWESOME! Thanks for playing our color combo at HSS! ~ Erika
