I used the new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called From Land to Sea to create a masculine card for The Paper Players PP248.
The Paper Players #248 challenge this week is to create a masculine card.
Be sure to stop by The Paper Players blog to check out what the other Design Team Members have created and be sure to play along too!
The layout for my card was inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 271.
I started by sponging the edges of a panel of Farmers Market DSP with Sahara Sand ink. Then I ran my Paper Snips along the edges to distress them a bit before I adhered the DSP to a panel of Basic Black card stock with SNAIL and to a Soft Suede card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped the ship’s wheel image from the From Land to Sea stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on a panel of Sahara Sand card stock. I sponged the edges with Sahara Sand ink and distressed them a bit with my Paper Snips before adhering the panel to the card front with SNAIL. I cut a banner from the Farmers Market DSP with one of the Banners Framelits Dies and I sponged and distressed the edges on that die cut as well, then cut the banner in half and adhered the two pieces to the card front with about 1/2″ between them (I wanted the banner to appear longer than it actually was).
I stamped the turtle image from the From Land to Sea stamp set in StazOn Jet Black Ink on a panel of Sahara Sand card stock, then I used my Aqua Painter and a little Old Olive and Mossy Meadow ink to paint the turtle. I cut the image out with a Circles Collection Framelits Die, sponged and distressed the edges and adhered it to a 2-1/2″ Circle Punch from Basic Black card stock, then to the card front with SNAIL.
I cut the sentiment with one of the Greetings Thinlits Dies from Soft Suede card stock. I distressed it a bit and sponged it with Soft Suede ink, then adhered it to the card front with touches of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I pulled a strand of Linen Thread through a Silver Basic Metal Button, tied a small knot on the back and adhered it to the card front with a Glue Dot to finish it.
I stamped the ship’s wheel image from the From Land to Sea stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on a Sahara Sand card stock panel, then sponged and distressed the edges to complete the inside of the card.

Welcome to The Paper Players – what an awesome first card to start your DT stint Amy! I have resisted most of the sea-themed stamps in the catalogue to date, but I think this one might get the better of me; I love turtles and I say your card and this set immediately made it onto my must-have list! I love the papers you showcased too – I wasn’t immediately drawn to this DSP set either, but hadn’t noticed either of these patterns and I love them! So beautifully composed and coloured – a perfect card for my masculine themed challenge this week!
Thanks so much Joanne! So glad to be a part of the team! 🙂
