Stampin’ Up! Build a Birthday for The Paper Players

I used the Stampin’ Up! Build A Birthday stamp set to create my card for The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #251.

Screen Shot 2015-06-27 at 1.24.40 PMThe colors for my card were inspired by ColourQ #296.

Screen Shot 2015-06-27 at 1.27.51 PMI started by stamping the ink splatter images from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in VersaMark Ink on a panel of Marina Mist card stock.  I sprinkled the images with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them, then adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Night of Navy card stock with SNAIL and to a Soft Sky card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut four circles from the Silver Foil Sheets with two different Circles Collection Framelits Dies and set the circles aside.  I used my 2″ and 2-1/2″ Circle Punches to punch around the “negatives” of the die cuts.  This gave me really thin circles that I adhered to the front of the card with a little scotch tape (under the area where the focal image would be adhered).

Build A Birthday 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the candle images from the Build A Birthday Photopolymer stamp set in Soft Sky, Night of Navy, Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight inks on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I cut the images out with a Circles Collection Framelits Die, then adhered the circle to a Circles Collection Framelits die cut from Night of Navy card stock.  I trimmed the edge off with my Stampin’ Trimmer, then adhered the layered circles to the card front with SNAIL.

Build A Birthday 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered a strip from the Silver Foil Sheets over the layered circles with SNAIL, then stamped the sentiment from the Build a Birthday stamp set in Marina Mist ink on a strip of Whisper White card stock.  I punched the end of the sentiment strip with the Banner Triple and adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.  I pulled two strands of silver thread that I’d pulled from the Silver Baker’s Twine through a Soft Sky button from the Subtles Designer Buttons Pack and tied a knot, then adhered the button to the card front with a Glue Dot.

Build A Birthday 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the ink splatter images in Soft Sky, Marina Mist and Night of Navy inks across a Whisper White panel inside the card.

  1. I love this card Amy..the thin circles the colors everything. I have never seen it used this way.
    Beautiful!!

    • Awww, thanks so much Terri! 🙂 Sometimes you have to make due with what you have…I’m impatiently waiting for my silver metallic thread to arrive so I had to improvise a bit to get the look that I wanted. 😉

  2. Love the little details on this – what a great showcase for SU products! The splatters and the bakers twine look gorgeous! Thanks for playing along at Colour Q!

  3. What a happy and celebratory card! I love the way you tackled the swirls in the background–such a clever way to use the circle framelits. Great colors and I love the white embossing. Way to rock my sketch!

  4. Wow, you’ve rocked two challenges again, Amy! I love those big, fun candles, the loopy thread and the splatters in the background. I had to read to see how you did that, they kind of look bleached!
