Stampin’ Up! Among the Branches with Watercolor Wishes

I used a few new items from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog to create my card for The Paper Players PP256 challenge this week.

Watercolor Wishes - Stamp With Amy K

Be sure to stop by The Paper Players blog to check out the awesome projects created by the other Design Team Members.  And be sure to play along too!  🙂  Here is the theme for PP256:

The autumn theme for my card was inspired by Just Us Girls #304.

I started by embossing a panel of Whisper White card stock with the Woodland Embossing Folder (available on Sept 1).  Then I stamped the leaf images from the Among the Branches stamp set (available on Sept 1) in Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist inks on the embossed panel.

I used a Sponge Dauber to dab a little Soft Suede ink over the embossed trees.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit in Soft Suede ink on the lower part of the panel.  I adhered the embossed panel to a panel of Soft Suede card stock with SNAIL.

Among the Branches 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I wrapped a strand of Linen Thread around the panel three times, then pulled the ends through a Gold Basic Metal Button and I tied a bow.  I secured the button to the panel with a Glue Dot.

I finished the card by adhering the layered panel to a Thick Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Among the Branches 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the leaf images from the Among the Branches stamp set in Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist inks across the bottom of a Whisper White panel.  I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Soft Suede card stock, then to the inside of the card.

  1. Beautiful card, Amy! I caught a cooler breeze yesterday, and realized fall will be with us soon… A welcome change from the 100+ degree days we had last week in Northern California. This embossing folder is so pretty! Thanks for sharing with us.

  2. This is amazing! I was on the fence about this folder but Amy The Enabler just pushed me over the edge. Now I’m buying it for sure!

  3. I am so excited to see these new products, Amy! This bundle is first on my pre-order and I love what you’ve done with it. The light sponging is perfect to bring out the fabulous detail in those trees. Great colors and love the swirl of leaves on the inside. FAB card!!

  4. Gorgeous card! The perfect blend of fall elements and colors:-). I would have been afraid to stamp the sentiment after embossing (not before), but yours turned out perfectly! Love it! Thank you so much for always providing the detailed descriptions and dimensions of your projects! I SO appreciate the time you take:-)

    • Thanks Elisha, glad that you are liking the instructions. I’ve found that I can stamp after embossing, but I need to choose a sentiment that’s a little “forgiving”. It seems to work better with larger fonts since it’s much more noticeable if there is a little gap in the small font. 🙂

  5. Love this card–but then fall colors are my favorite. But I can see doing this same design with different colors for all seasons–or holidays. Another “gotta have”

  6. Hi Amy,I really like today’s fall card!  I saw a preview of the new holiday catalog and just love this embossing folder.  You made it look so real…just as if I were out in Colorado among the birch trees.   I’m hoping to be more involved with stamping now that my husband is improving from his strokes.  Thanks for sharing.   Pat MCreativity is Gods gift to you, What you do with it is your gift to God

  7. Wonderful embossed card! Your coloring on the tree trunks is so precise! The leaves are so striking against the white bg. A beauty, for sure!
Thanks for joining us this week at Just Us Girls!

  8. This is gorgeous! I’ll have to look for that folder when it comes out! Thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!

  9. Amy I haven’t purchased anything from the SU holiday catalog yet, but you’ve got me taking a hard look at this embossing folder. It’s absolutely gorgeous sponged like you did, and I love the sweet little leaves!

  10. I love this card so much! I do have a quick question for you. When I try to sponge color onto the tree trunks, I seem to get a lot of ink on the background as well. Any tips for me?

    • Thanks so much Carol! I had a few smudges of ink on my background too…I just tried to cover them as best could with the leaf stamps. And I found that the Sponge Dauber was more precise as far as applying the ink. Hope that helps! 🙂
