Thank you So Much for that tip, Amy! I’ve come to dislike those newer pads for multiple reasons, and that’s one of them. I also have had trouble with using them for sponging. They seem to pick up too much ink and instead of getting a nice soft, smooth result, I get a blotchy looking result or one with actual lines in it. I’ve tended to stay away from the darker colors due to that. Maybe doing what you suggested will help in this manner also. Is it necessary to push the ink down each time you use the pad? Seems there would be an easier way to keep it toward the bottom. Thanks for your help~
You are welcome Roberta! If you store the ink pads right side up, you will need to do this every time that you use the ink pad until you’ve stamped enough to get the excess ink out of the ink pad. If you don’t want to have to do this every time, flip your ink pad over and store it upside down. That should keep the excess ink at the bottom of the ink pad rather than up at the surface. 🙂

OMG! Thank you, Amy! I have been disappointed in how some of my images stamped and now I know what to do. I had seen a video that showed blotting some of your ink off the pad but that felt wasteful. I can’t wait to try this!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Such a little thing, but a huge help. I had no idea how to get rid of the bubbles and excessive ink. Stamping off always resulted in too light an image. Great job!

Give the smushing technique a try…I think that you’ll like the new ink pads once you get the appropriate amount of ink at the surface. 🙂

Congrats on your first You Tube video – well done! I appreciate the tip, although with Arizona’s arid climate I find my ink pads dry up quickly. This has only been a problem with a couple of new pads.
