Stampin’ Up! Serene Garden Birthday Card

I used the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Serene Garden stamp set bundle from the upcoming 2018-19 Annual Catalog to create my card to share with you today.

My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #336.

I started by embossing the front of a Thick Whisper White card base with the corner embossing die from the Garden Scene Framelits Dies (available June 1).  I used the new Big Shot Embossing Mats (available June 1) to emboss this panel…they worked great, love this new set of mats!  Then I adhered a panel of Soft Sea Foam card stock (available June 1) over the embossed card front with SNAIL.

I stamped the corner image from the Serene Garden photopolymer stamp set (available June 1) in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I used a Blender Pen and Soft Suede and Soft Sea Foam (available June 1) inks to add a little color to the image.  Then I stamped the flower images from the Serene Garden stamp set on a separate panel of Whisper White card stock and I used a Blender Pen with Poppy Parade and Powder Pink inks to add color to those images.

I cut the flowers out with the coordinating Garden Scene Framelits Dies and I adhered them with Glue Dots to the Whisper White card stock panel.  I wrapped a strand of Linen Thread around the panel twice and tied a bow, then adhered the stamped panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams photopolymer stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a strip of Powder Pink card stock, snipped the end at an angle and then adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I embossed a panel of Whisper White card stock and then stamped the sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Poppy Parade ink to finish the inside of the card.

  1. aaaaaah. the perfect cad for me to try out the new BS embossing mat. i am dying to see how it works in REAL life. and i dont have the stamp set yet but now that i have seen your card, i am planning to order it. thanks, amy, for the VERY pretty card. i just love when white card bases are embossed!! there is something almost boring about looking at plain white :))))) esp when i have all those EFs on my shelf.
    jo ann.

    • Thanks Jo Ann! Have fun using your new mats, they’re really easy to use and the results are amazing! 🙂

  2. Your card is just Beautiful, Amy! The colors are so soft and pretty together. I was a bit amazed that you used a blender pen on whisper white cs and that you used tuxedo black ink also. Whenever I have tried using a blender pen on the reg. or thick white cs, the cs ends up pilling and looking ugly. Also, with that type ink, I get smears of black in with my colors. Maybe you can help me to know why that is.

    • Thanks Roberta! I just used the Blender Pens “lightly” over the images to avoid pilling. I also made sure that the images were really dry before adding color and I tried not to color a lot over the lines. Just quickly put the ink down with the Blender Pen. Hope that helps! 🙂

  3. Beautiful card! The embossed background looks fabulous and those image are gorgeous! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  4. thanks for taking time to post on my blog, I scrolled through your blog and your work is very nice. I especially love the simplicity and quiet beauty of this card, and the colors you’ve used are just perfect. I may may have to buy that set from my SU “dealer”.
