Stampin’ Up! Abstract Impressions for the Joint Happy Inkin’ Thursday and Happy Stampers Blog Hop

We’re joining forces with Sandi MacIver’s Happy Stampers for our Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop this week!  We’re planning to do this one Thursday each month and we’re excited to have Sandi’s group hopping with us for the first time!  We’re also doing something a little fun with the challenges.  On our combined weeks, we will have a sketch challenge and a color challenge that we can choose to use individually or together!

I used both the sketch and the colors for my card share this week.  I pulled out the Stampin’ Up! Abstract Impressions stamp set from the upcoming 2018-19 Annual Catalog to create my project.

Here is the sketch for this week:

And here are the colors:

I started by inking the stem image from the Abstract Impressions photopolymer stamp set (available June 1) in Tranquil Tide ink, stamping it on scrap paper and then stamping it on a panel from the Tranquil Textures DSP (available June 1).  Then I inked the flower images in Night of Navy ink, stamped them on scrap paper and then stamped them across the tops of the stems on the DSP panel.

I stamped the second set of stems and flowers from the Abstract Impressions stamp set in full strength Tranquil Tide and Night of Navy inks over the top of the stamped off images.  I added the butterfly images in Crumb Cake and stamped off Tranquil Tide and Night of Navy inks above the flowers before adhering the stamped panel to a panel of Night of Navy card stock with SNAIL.  I adhered the layered panel to a Tranquil Tide card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I inked half of the sentiment from the Abstract Impressions stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink and the other half in Night of Navy ink (using my Stamparatus [available June 1] to stamp the image and Post-It Note tape to cover the parts that I did not want inked) on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock.  I cut the image out with a Stitched Shapes Framelits die and adhered it to a larger oval cut from Night of Navy card stock with a Layering Ovals Framelits Die and then to the card front with SNAIL.

I pulled a strand of Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine into two parts and threaded one half through a True Gentleman Button.  I tied a small bow and then adhered the button to the card front with a Glue Dot to finish it.

I stamped the flowers from the Abstract Impressions stamp set in the same manner described above on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock inside the card.

  1. Love it! So simply perfect. And it shows how wonderful this set is – don’t you think? We both used it and yet our cards are so different! Really REALLY like how you’ve used it!

    • Thanks Mary! I thought the same thing when I saw your card…we even used the same colors and ended up with completely different cards! It’s a wonderful bundle! 🙂

  2. You showcased that stamp set perfectly! You have a wonderful “knack” for showing the versatility of stamps and making me think I need it!
