I used the Stampin’ Up! Let It Ride and Dear Doily stamp sets to create my card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a sketch challenge this week and here is what I created for it. Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card for the family of a horse trainer so I thought the Let it Ride stamp set would be perfect.
Here is the sketch that we’re using this week:
My card also works for the Just Us Girls Challenge #474.
I started by stamping the images from the Let it Ride stamp set on a panel from the Wood Textures DSP Stack in Early Espresso and Mossy Meadow inks. I adhered the stamped DSP panel to a panel of Early Espresso card stock and then to a Mossy Meadow card base with SNAIL.
I stamped the sentiment from the Dear Doily stamp set in Early Espresso ink on a panel of Sahara Sand card stock with the Stamparatus and then cut it out with a Stitched Shapes Framelits Die. I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I tucked two of the Butterfly Elements (Sale-a-bration item) under the sentiment die cut and adhered them with Glue Dots and then added two gold pearls from the Metallic Pearls pack to finish the card front.
I stamped the sentiment from the Dear Doily stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink on a panel of Sahara Sand card stock. I inked the horse image from the Let it Ride stamp set in Sahara Sand ink, stamped it on scrap paper and then stamped it on the Sahara Sand card stock panel. I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Early Espresso card stock and then to the inside of the card with SNAIL.

Nobody uses that wood DSP like you do! It looks like your horse was etched into word! Wonderful card!
Thanks so much Linda! Can you tell that the Wood Textures DSP is my favorite pack ever??? I could use that on every card! 😉
Ha! I see that the Wood Textures DSP is on the low inventory list! Amy, do you think you had anything to do with that???!!! How many packs do you figure you’ve used?
Hahaha, who me??? I’ve lost track, I always have one that is open and one that is new waiting for to dig in! 🙂
I love that you stamp on the DSP. I never think to do that.
Thanks Karen! The Wood Textures DSP is perfect for stamping. Give it a try! 🙂
Wonderful, Amy! Woodburning comes to mind. Well done. And, perfect for the occasion, though I wish we never had to make this kind of card.
Thanks Julie! 🙂
Like I’ve told you before Amy, great minds think alike! Love your horse on the Wood Texture DSP!
Thanks Shirley! 🙂

Oh this is beautiful!! Love your interpretation of the challenge. from the colors to the DSP to the wood elements – it’s a match made in Heaven.
Thanks Jaimie! 🙂
I’m saddened that you had to create a sympathy card but…you’ve designed one that is ever so lovely and ever so ‘personal’ for the individuals receiving it. They will be deeply touched. Thrilled to see this gem in the Just Us Girls gallery.

Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment! 🙂
I too love that DSP. Great job on this card, hard ones to make and you did well.
Thanks Shelagh! 🙂
What a beautiful sympathy card. So perfect in every way. I had to create a sympathy card for a friend who had to put her horse down and it was before this catalog came out so I used a retired set and it worked but this card would have been so perfect too! Now I think I’m going to have to get this set! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Thank you! 🙂
Your card is PERFECT for someone who has lost their beloved horse! Outstanding!!!!!!
Thanks Karen! 🙂
