It’s Super Bowl Sunday!! So I thought I’d share a super girly card that I made for the Fab Friday 11 Sketch Challenge. I used the Secret Garden and Vintage Verses stamp sets from Stampin’ Up. Vintage Verses is one of the sets that you can earn for free with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration! This is the sketch:
And here is my card:

- Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109133)
- VersaMark Pad (102283)
- Heat Tool (129053)
- Summer Starfruit Classic Stampin’ Pad (126991)
- Midnight Muse Classic Stampin’ Pad (126860)
- Gumball Green Classic Stampin’ Pad (126861)
- Summer Starfruit Card Stock (126839)
- Midnight Muse Card Stock (126843)
- Gumball Green Card Stock (126840)
- Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650)
- Stamping Sponges (101610)
- SNAIL Adhesive (104332)
- Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)
I started with a Midnight Muse card base cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″. Then I cut a panel of Gumball Green card stock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and a panel of Summer Starfruit to 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″. I stamped the flower images from the Secret Garden stamp set on the Summer Starfruit panel in Summer Starfruit ink and I adhered the two panels together and then to the card front with SNAIL. Then I cut a strip of Gumball Green to 2-1/8″ x 5-1/4″ and a strip of Print Poetry DSP to 2″ x 5-1/4″, adhered the two strips together then adhered the layers to the card front with SNAIL. Next, I stamped the flower images in VersaMark ink on Very Vanilla card stock, sprinkled them with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them. Then I cut the flowers out using the matching Secret Garden Framelits dies and I colored them using my Blender Pens. I simply touched my ink pad with the Blender Pen and started coloring the flower petals, adding more ink by touching the ink pad again. I used a swirling motion to get the ink distributed the way that I wanted. I also stamped and cut some of the leaves. Then I used one of the Labels Collection Framelits dies to cut a panel of Gumball Green card stock and I used the next smaller Labels Framelit to cut a panel from Very Vanilla card stock. I layered the flowers and leaves on the Very Vanilla panel, adhering them with SNAIL. Once I had the flowers arranged and adhered, I adhered the decorated Very Vanilla panel to the Gumball Green panel, then adhered the layers to the card front with SNAIL. To finish the card, I used the Delicate Details lace tape as a stencil on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock that I’d cut to 1-1/8″ x 4″ and I sponged Summer Starfruit ink onto the strip. I pulled up the lace tape then stamped the sentiment from the Vintage Verses stamp set in Midnight Muse ink over the sponging. I cut a strip of Midnight Muse card stock to 1-1/4″ x 4″ and adhered it to the sentiment using SNAIL. Then I used my Paper Snips to cut the flag ends and I adhered the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals under the ends and SNAIL in the middle.
The lace tape has a neat sort-of plastic surface to it so I was able to put the tape down, sponge over the top of it, pull it back up and wipe the ink off so that I could reuse it later. Love it! And if you haven’t tried the Blender pens to color, you should give it a try. It’s really easy and allows you to do much more shading then just using a regular marker.
Hoping to be able to do a little stamping while watching the game this evening…nothing better than football and stamping! Anyone else joining me? And go Ravens (only because my husband is a big 49ers fan)!!

I have to admit – Summer Starfruit was not one of my favorite colors, but what you’ve done with it on several of your recent cards is changing my mind! This one is beautiful (and so are the others)!
It took me a little while to warm up to the Summer Starfruit too, but I really like it now! Thanks for your comments. 🙂
Beautiful card! Thanks for the neat tip on the lace tape and sponging — I would never have thought of that! It’s a beautiful effect. Thanks for joining us at Fab Friday!
Thank you for your comments! The Lace Tape worked great for sponging.
Absolutely stunning card! Love everything about it. I’ve not been a fan of Summer Starfruit either, but it’s gorgeous in the color combination you’ve used. Just stumbled upon your blog for the first time…nice work!
Thank you for your comments. Glad that you’re liking the Summer Starfruit combination. 🙂
