Lots of Thanks with Masking Tape Technique & a Little Blog Candy!

I used the masking tape technique to create the background for my card share today.  I’ve got a quick tutorial that you can see here showing you this technique, it’s really simple and pretty!  I also used the Lots of Thanks stamp set from Stampin’ Up! for the sentiment and a few pieces of Sweater Weather DSP for accents.

My card design was inspired by the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 284.

Lots of Thanks

I started by using blue painters tape and my Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry, Soft Sky and Tangerine Tango ink pads to create the striped background on a Whisper White panel.  Then I adhered the panel to a Soft Sky card stock panel with SNAIL.  I adhered a banner that I’d cut from Sweater Weather DSP with SNAIL.  Then I used the Autumn Accents Bigz die to cut two leaves and the acorn from Sweater Weather DSP and I adhered them to the card front with SNAIL.

Lots of Thanks 1

I stamped the sentiment from the Lots of Thanks stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink on a Sahara Sand card base, then I adhered the layered panel to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card front by tying a bow from Natural Linen Thread through a Naturals Designer Button, then adhering it to the card front with a Glue Dot.

Lots of Thanks 2

I finished the inside of the card by adhering part of a leaf that I’d cut from the Sweater Weather DSP with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die to a Whisper White panel.

  1. My favorite Halloween candy would be Brach’s Candy Corn! I check your bog everyday! You always have some bit of inspiration for me!

  2. I love your blog – check it every day! My favorite would be the little mini Snickers bars – I have to wait until the day before trick or treat to buy them, otherwise I eat them and have to buy more lol! Thank you for the chance to win:-)

  3. My favorite fall snack is candy corn & salted roasted peanuts! YUM! I look forward to seeing your creations each day! Thanks for the chance of some awesome candy–my daughter & I would love to have this stamp set for Christmas cards this year! You’re inspiring! Andrea H

  4. I am really loving your blog! So happy I sinded up for it. My favorite Halloween candy is Brach’s pumpkins. They are big enough that I can “nibble” them and feel like I’ve had a big treat!

  5. Amy, I have to agree with you – Hershey’s chocolate with almonds, but to be more specific, I love the dark chocolate nuggets with almonds. And, they are best if they are kept in the freezer and eaten while still frozen! The real trick is not to buy them until right before Halloween; otherwise, it means a quick trip to the store to restock right before the trick or treaters start arriving!

  6. Oh my gosh! You wouldn’t think that’d be a hard question, but it is! LOL My favorite is probably M&M’s – peanut butter! Yummy! Thanks so much for all the inspiration AND the blog candy too! 🙂

  7. I love candy corn and salted roasted peanuts mixed together… so good! I would be hard pressed to pick between that mixture and little Snickers bars! … and then there’s the chewy peanut butter kisses… I better stop, I’m making myself hungry! Anyway, since I’ve stopped to comment (which I should do more often), I want to thank you for all the ideas and inspiration you share on your blog, Amy. I am continually impressed with the projects you come up with and look forward to reading each post. Thank you, too, for offering such great blog candy… this stamp set would be so perfect for Christmas cards this year, and the boxes and ribbon would be so much fun to decorate gifts with! “Pick me! Pick me!” LOL

  8. Gosh I guess my favorite is anything chocolate! I love chocolate! Thank goodness we don’t get tric or treaters, because the candy wouldn’t last till then if I bought it. I love those little snickers, kit kats, milky ways, and anything else that comes in the bag with them. 🙂

  9. I really love the little bags of mini (unwrapped) Reese Peanutbutter Cups. Yum. And you don’t have to waste time taking the wrappers off.

  10. HI Any–Love your blog! Thanks for the chance to win some candy…and speaking of candy…my favorite Halloween candy is Brach’s candy corn and those candy pumpkins. Aren’t they pure sugar?? Maybe why I love them so much! Thanks again! I hope I win…I’ve been trying to find the Snow Much Fun stamp set!! 🙂

  11. Hi Amy, I’m with you. In fact, at this moment there are three giant Hershey’s chocolate-with-almond bars sitting in my kitchen. We never eat a formal dessert so we feel justified to eat a few small squares off the the giant bar in the evening. The snowmen stamps are a fabulous prize. You are a such a generous demo-er!

  12. I stash away the new pumpkin spice M&M’s. Always save a few skittles for the hubby. Thanks for the chance for blog candy!

  13. What a fun way to show off this technique! I love the colors you picked. Awesome fall card. Thanks so much for playing along with my sketch challenge this week! By the way my favorite Halloween candy is the snicker bars–bite size ones.

  14. Beautiful card! I think that Bigz die is my favorite. I love that you can make bright colored leaves for Fall. My favorite Halloween candy is the mini dark chocolate Twix. Hard to find, but well worth the effort! Thanks for the chance to win some blog candy.

  15. Love the blog! Thank you for posting such great examples. As for candy at Halloween-I love the smaller chocolates in assorted bags. Snickers, Milky Ways -just the right size for a snack and satisfies my chocolate craving!

  16. My favorite would be candy pumpkins or candy corn. Definitely hoping to win this pumpkin pie ribbon & stamp set & craft boxes!!!! 🙂

    • Hi Amy! Thank you for sharing another awesome card with us! I would have to say my favorite candy would be those little nugget Hershey bars! They are yummy! But you can’t stop with just one! LOL!! Thanks for the chance to win an awesome giveaway!
