Sweet Sorbet Birthday Card In A Box – Stampin’ Up!

I’ve been seeing these fantastic little cards in a box all over Pinterest.  A hostess requested one for a party on Thursday night so that prompted me to put one together.  I found a quick tutorial out on Heidi Baks’ blog and you can see it here.  The box that Heidi created fits inside a standard A2 size envelope, which is awesome!  The base box goes together really quickly and you can decorate them as much or little as you’d like and I’ve seen them done with everything from cupcakes to flowers and butterflies.  But I will warn you, they are very addicting…once you start making them, you won’t be able to stop!  🙂

I started with a 4-1/4″ x 12″ panel of card stock and I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score it at 2-3/4″, 5-1/2″, 8-1/4″ and 11″.  Then I turned the panel 90 degrees and scored it again at 1-3/4″ and used my Paper Snips to cut from the top down to the 1-3/4″ score line.

I adhered panels of Sweet Sorbet DSP (Sale-a-bration item) to the lower part of the box and to the flaps with SNAIL, then followed the tutorial that is linked to Heidi’s blog (you can see links to it here) to put the box together.   The two strips inside the box that hold up the cupcakes and balloons are 1″ x 4-3/4″ and are scored at 1″ from both ends.

I used the Cupcake Builder Punch  to punch out the pieces for the three little cupcakes and the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch and the foot of the Owl Builder Punch to create the balloons.  I added a little Whisper White Baker’s Twine and adhered the balloons to thin strips of Window Sheets.  I added a few star punches using the punch from the Merry Minis Punch Pack to the sides of the box.

Then I stamped the sentiment from the Label Love stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in StazOn Jet Black Ink on Whisper White card stock, punched it out with the matching Artisan Label Punch, layered it over an Artisan Label Punch from Coastal Cabana card stock that I’d cut in half and slid apart about 1/8″, then adhered it to the front flap of the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Don’t forget that you can purchase the Label Love stamp set and matching Artisan Label Punch in a bundle and save 15% (wood mount and clear mount).

This is what the little card in a box looks like when it’s all folded and ready to go in the envelope, they’re really fun to make!  The little group did get a little sticky from adhering all of those tiny pieces together but did have a lot of fun.  🙂
