One quick announcement before I get to my card, I’m trying to “clean up” the bar that runs along the side of my blog. One of the things that I’ve done is move all of the new or not in any of the catalogs items to their own page. I’ve added a click button on the side of my blog that says, “What’s new at Stampin’ Up!” and I’ve got a page tab at the top named the same thing. When you click on either one, you’ll see a list of all of those items. So now they’re going to be all in one spot! Hope that helps you to find the things that you need. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. 🙂
I’ve been having some fun making cards with the Starburst Sayings stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I saw this card made by Mary Jo Price-Williams and thought that it was such a cool way to use the sentiment, so I had to give it a try too! My card design was inspired by Mojo Monday 336.
I started by embossing a panel of Coastal Cabana Core’dinations Card Stock (from the 2013-15 In Color Core’dinations Card Stock pack) with the Chevron Embossing Folder (on sale for 25% off through Mar 17). Since I wanted the chevron pattern to run side-to-side rather than up and down, I cut the panel in half and embossed the two halves separately. An easy trick, especially since the seam would be hidden with the layers on top.
I sanded the raised areas with my Stampin’ Sanding Block and adhered the embossed panels to a Real Red card base with SNAIL. Then I adhered a layer of Real Red card stock and a panel cut from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack to the card front with SNAIL.
I stamped the sentiment from the Starburst Sayings stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in Real Red ink on a Whisper White panel and I cut it out with the matching Starburst Framelits die. I adhered it with SNAIL to a circle that I’d cut from Real Red card stock with one of the Circles Collection Framelits dies.
You can purchase the Starburst Sayings stamp set and matching Starburst Framelits Dies in a bundle and save 15% (wood mount and clear mount).
I stamped the birthday sentiment from the You’re Amazing stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in Real Red ink on a Whisper White panel, trimmed it closely, punched the end with the Hexagon Punch and adhered it with SNAIL to the card front. I added two Basic Metal Buttons that I’d tied Silver Baker’s Twine through, adhering them with Glue Dots, to finish the card front.
I added a strip of leftover Fresh Prints DSP and a strip of Real Red card stock to a Whisper White panel inside the card.
You can find a complete list of supplies, including card stock cuts, at the very bottom of this post.
