Vivid Vases for Stamping & Blogging – Stampin’ Up!

I used the Vivid Vases and Bordering Blooms stamp sets to create my card to share with you today.  My card design was inspired by the Stamping and Blogging SB61 Sketch.  Be sure to click the links below to see what the other Stamping and Blogging Design Team Members have created with this sketch too!

Vivid Vases - Stamp With Amy K

I started by stamping the Vivid Vases image in StazOn Jet Black Ink on a Whisper White panel.  I colored the image with my Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Markers.  When I colored the vases, I was trying to create the effect of the sun shining so I left a little white space as I colored.  Then I took my Blender Pen and colored over the white space, pulling a little bit of the Chocolate Chip color onto it.  My coloring isn’t perfect, but I think it turned out okay.  🙂

I cut the Vivid Vases image out with an Ovals Collection Framelits Die and sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.  Then I punched three little hearts from the Gold Glimmer Paper with the Hearts Border Punch and adhered them to the vases with a touch of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Vivid Vases 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the images from the Bordering Blooms Photopolymer stamp set in Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky inks on strips of Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White card stock.  I used the fine point of my Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Markers to color the flower images, I find that the fine point doesn’t bleed as much if you want to add a little color to an image stamped with a Classic Ink Pad.

I tore the ends of the stamped card stock strips and adhered them with SNAIL to a panel of Soft Sky card stock that I’d embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  I adhered the embossed panel to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL, then to a Chocolate Chip card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I adhered the oval die cut over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals to complete the card front.

I finished the inside of the card by stamping the Bordering Blossoms images again in Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip inks on a Whisper White panel.

Since this card provided a good example, I wanted to show you two little tricks that I use to conserve on supplies.  When I’m using punches or dies, I try to use the center of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel.  That way I can use the leftover as a background layer.  You can see in the photo above where I cut the stamped image from the Whisper White panel, then adhered the panel to the back of the embossed layer.  I also always cut my Stampin’ Dimensionals in half, they work great that way and go twice as far!  You can see a couple of my half Dimensionals in the photo above too.

Now that you’ve seen my project, be sure to stop by the other Stamping & Blogging Design Team Members blogs to see what they’ve created with this sketch:

  1. Wow, your coloring of the vases is so realistic. It really looks like the light is reflecting off of them. They pop off the card!

  2. Amy, your coloring rocks! I couldn’t wait to find out how you did the reflecting light, it’s so realistic! Your card came together beautifully 🙂 Thank you for the tips on how to stretch cardstock too. That always helps 😉

  3. Your colouring is fabulous Amy, especially on the vases. I had to read just to find out how you did them as they have great dimension!! Can’t believe it is just markers!!
