Be the Star Thank You – Stampin’ Up!

I needed a couple of quick thank you notes for the bus driver and teachers at my daughter’s summer school program so I pulled out the Be the Star stamp set and the Little Letters Thinlits Dies from Stampin’ Up! and I went to work!

My card design was inspired by the My Favorite Things MFTWSC184 sketch.

Be the Star 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I started by embossing an Island Indigo card base with the Zig Zag Embossing Folder.  Then I adhered a panel of Real Red card stock to a panel of Crushed Curry card stock with SNAIL, then adhered the layered panels to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the image from the Be the Star stamp set in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder, heat embossed the image and cut it out with the matching Stars Framelits die.  I placed the star on an Island Indigo card stock panel and pierced around it, using the template from the Eclectic Paper Piercing Pack.

I adhered the pierced panel to the card front with SNAIL, then adhered the star die cut image to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I cut a 1″ strip of Crushed Curry card stock, punched the end with the Hexagon Punch to create the banner and adhered the banner to the card front with SNAIL.

Be the Star 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I used the Little Letters Thinlits Dies to cut the word “thanks” from Real Red card stock and I adhered the letters to the banner with just a touch of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Then I punched a star from Silver Glimmer Paper with the punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered it with a touch of Multipurpose Liquid Glue as well.

Be the Star 5 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the small star image from the Be the Star stamp set again in VersaMark Ink and embossed it with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a Crushed Curry panel to complete inside the card.

Then I went to work on a gift card holder.  Stampin’ Up! has a cute little Gift Card Enclosure Pack on page 194 in the 2014-15 Catalog.  The Kraft base is all precut and scored, so all that you need to do is add your gift card and decorate!

Be the Star 6 - Stamp With Amy K

I made a little belly band from Island Indigo and Crushed Curry card stock (embossed with the Zig Zag Embossing Folder, wrapped around the gift card enclosure and adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue) and I stamped and embossed another star image on Real Red card stock with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Embossing Powder.  I adhered the star to the belly band with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then added a star punched from Silver Glimmer Paper, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere it.

Gift Card Enclosure - Stamp With Amy K

The Gift Card Enclosures even have a little space at the bottom where you can write a note, so I layered Island Indigo and Crushed Curry card stock on the inside to finish it up.  And I did actually put a gift card inside and took out the business card…I was running way late in making these (as I usually am!!) and just grabbed what was close by when I took the picture so that you could see what it looks like.  🙂

You can find a complete list of supplies, including card stock cuts, at the very bottom of this post.

  1. Very cute gift idea! I am loving your color choices again (I say that so often because you make such great and unique choices). Thanks for showing the inside of the gift card holder so I could get an idea of how much room is inside.

  2. Wow, your projects are outstanding! Love the bright stars, makes you smile to see them (and I’m sure to receive them too). This is another set on my wish list and now I have a great card and gift card holder idea – love it 🙂
