Stampin’ Up! Cheerful Christmas Card With Gold Touches

I used the Cheerful Christmas stamp set and Nordic Noel DSP from Stampin’ Up! to create my card to share today.  I also tried out something fun with Rhinestones and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder to create the little gold embellishments.  🙂

Cheerful Christmas - Stamp With Amy K

My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #162, I just flipped the sketch on its side.

I started by adhering a panel of Nordic Noel DSP to a panel of Garden Green card stock, then to a Real Red card base with SNAIL.

Cheerful Christmas 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered a smaller panel of Nordic Noel DSP to a panel of Garden Green card stock with SNAIL.  Then I wrapped a strand of Gold Baker’s Twine around the panel 3 times and adhered it on the back with tape.  I adhered the layered panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then tied a strand of Gold Baker’s Twine through a Gold Basic Metal Button and adhered it to the card front with little pieces snipped from Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cheerful Christmas 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I colored the sentiment from the Cheerful Christmas stamp set with my Real Red, Garden Green and Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Markers and I stamped the image on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Garden Green card stock with SNAIL, then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cheerful Christmas 3 - Stamp With Amy K

To create the little gold embellishments, I snipped a few of the large and small Rhinestone Basic Jewels from the sheet (leaving them attached to the backing).  Then I pressed the rhinestones down onto my VersaMark Ink Pad, covering the tops with ink.  I sprinkled them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then quickly heat embossed them.

It just took a second with the Heat Tool to melt the powder and during the heating process the rhinestones became rounded…which I kind-of liked!  I was pretty quick with the Heat Tool since I didn’t want them to melt completely.  I let the rhinestones cool, then adhered them to the card front.

I adhered a strip of Nordic Noel DSP to Whisper White panel inside the card.

  1. Wowza! This is a spectacular card. I love the gold embossed rhinestones, they are pure brilliance. A big thank you for joining in our color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Smiles, Elizabeth

  2. What delightful Christmas card! The patterns and colors are so fun and all the lovely embellishments make this a very special Christmas card. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  3. Super cute card!!! I love it when the inside of the card is decorated… I am always TOO lazy, LOL!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at HSS! Take Care~ Erin

  4. Great idea on embossing the rhinestones! I have a question. Do you have a standard size for your mats? Like – you always cut them x amount bigger than the top piece? Also, do you just use a trimmer or do you have those dies that make card tops? Yours always look so perfect and I fight my trimmer every time and still seem to not get square corners.

    • Thanks so much for your comments Mary! I do have standard sizes that I generally cut my layers to. The most common sizes are 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ (top layer) and 4″ x 5-1/4″ (under layer). For cards where I want a little more of the card base to show, I cut the top layer to 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ and the under layer to 3-3/4″ x 5″. Hope that helps! 🙂

  5. Just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your cards & I really love that you add to the inside of your cards.   Adds a very nice finish to them.

  6. I am stunned with your rhinestone gold embossed idea – that is SO awesome!! I would have not thought that in a million years, they turned out so wonderfully with the perfect patina and all those sizes 🙂 They also look brilliant with the sentiment, your coloring/colors really makes a pretty pop on your card. Thanks for the great eye candy today 😉

Yep, my 11 year old appropriated my Paper Pumpkin kit. He it so psyched to try it out. I’m thinking of getting him a membership of his own. Would be a nice, low key way of spending time together too, now that he is getting to the teen years, lol 🙂
