Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Basics in Black and Red

I used the Butterfly Basics and the Six-Sided Sampler stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! to create my card to share today.

Butterfly Basics - Stamp With Amy K

My card design was inspired by Mojo Monday 384.

The colors for my card were inspired by ColourQ Challenge #279.

I started by adhering a panel from the Typeset DSP to a panel of Basic Black card stock with SNAIL.  Then I embossed a smaller panel of Basic Black card stock with the Spring Flowers Embossing Folder and I adhered that to the panel.

I wrapped a strand of Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim around the panel, adhering it with SNAIL in the center (the section hidden by the focal panel) and tape on the back.  I adhered the layered panel to a Real Red card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Butterfly Basics 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the flower image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a Very Vanilla card stock panel and again on a Real Red card stock panel.  I used my Paper Snips and I carefully trimmed around the flowers, then adhered them to the Very Vanilla panel with touches of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Real Red card stock with SNAIL, then wrapped a strand of Very Vanilla 5/8″ Satin Ribbon around it and tied a bow.  I adhered the stamped panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I colored the sentiment from the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set with my Basic Black and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers and I stamped it on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I punched the sentiment out with the 1″ Circle Punch, adhered it with SNAIL to a 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch from Basic Black card stock, then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Butterfly Basics 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the flower image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Real Red ink on a Very Vanilla panel inside the card.

  1. Your black, red and vanilla are very striking using this MOJO layout, Amy! I first thought you colored your flowers, they are so detailed that I didn’t think cs could look so good! This is all so beautiful,,,,the pretty lace, satin ribbon and scalloped circle around the duo colored sentiment all add to the beauty! To me, there’s nothing more elegant than script on a card, whether it be in a foreign language or a newspaper print like yours, it all adds to the ambiance! Simply delightful~
BTW, it’s 0 right now with a Wind Chill Warning Advisory! It was scary windy yesterday and will be the same today with gusts up to 40’s! We are staying in the house~

    • Thanks so much Roberta! Those little paper snips are so sharp that they can cut the tiniest pieces of paper nicely. I love them! 🙂 Brrrr…definitely stay in today. We’re cold here too, but not like you are!

  2. Another stunning card! I don’t know how you come up with so many great card ideas so fast. They are all so gorgeous! I love the colors in this card. It does look like you colored the flower red. I didn’t realize that you didn’t till I read the details. Love the lace ribbon too. This is a good day to work on cards. It’s 26 below zero here with the wind chill!

    • Thanks Mary! I do all of my creating at night after the kids go to bed…no distractions that way. 🙂 It’s a good day to say in and create cards here too…actually it will be for this entire week! I think today is the only day that the air temps are supposed to be above freezing and they’re even talking about snow for tomorrow!! Yikes!! Stay warm. 🙂

  3. I love your card Amy. The color combo along with all that you put in the card makes is stunning, a classic beautiful card.

  4. So beautiful…I love all your sweet elements and your totally nailed this challenge. Thank you so much for playing along with us at ColourQ, hope to see you again next week.

  5. Wow Amy, this card is just sooo beautiful!! I love the elegance of the flowers and you did a phenomenal job fussy cutting these and adding them. This is such a timeless card that is perfect for everything. Who ever gets this will know the heart you put into it 😉
